Alex Rodriguez tests positive for steroids and now ADMITS it

For you who don't think steroids help you hit a baseball better it may not. But what they do is make you recover from injuries, last longer during the season etc. That's the problem. Come October a guy on steroids is juiced and ready to go while other other players who didn't do it are worn down a bit from the season. It's wrong and Arod knows it.

As for the fans still showing up to the games, Why punish every player?

well, bravo, for peter gammons. the guy has been in the news business forever and his resume is impressive, including the baseball hall of fame.

perhaps, peter fell into the same trap, i've allowed myself to fall into: he wasn't hard or tough enough in his questioning....he let arod get off too easily.

What's your point?? Are you saying we can't be critical of something we may enjoy, without still supporting it in some way??

MLB would just blame the effects of any boycott actions on the bad economic times anyway, so why bother...

HD said fans should stop paying in order to facilitate change. While a noble cause, my point is fans won't do that.

Abandoning the season in 1994 annoyed them, but they came back. Ironically partly because of steroids-aided home run excitement.

It is time to end all this nonsense. Zero tolerance for anybody caught from here out. Just give them the lifetime ban. To hell with the union on this one. It's about time the union opened their eyes to the damage they've done by turning a blind eye to all of this. It's time to restore integrity to sports, period. If MLB, NFL, NHL, NBA, etc. won't do this then maybe the Federal govt. should. Steroids as used by athletes as performance enhancements are illegal by law. Maybe we should just start prosecuting these athletes. To allow this to continue sends a bad message to high school athletes across the nation. I'm tired of this story, and wondering what's real and what isn't.
The athletes that admitted to use can continue playing, but do what HD said, give them an asterisk, so future generations will know.

Now I believe her when it comes to The U confrontation, if you wanna call it that. As far as her being close to his property, she is telling the truth that she never set foot on his property because she was NEVER GIVEN ACCESS to the island. I can assume A-Rod thought she was arrested because the police escorted her OFF THE ISLAND(damn, that sounds so "Survivor"...LOL) when they told her she had no permission by the guard after he called A-Rod's home. His reponse is very typical of ANY celebrity avoid the press after a major scandal.....that is obvious. Like I said, she is a reporter trying do her job and get confirmation to a story. The word A-Rod used of "stalking" is too strong a word....but she DID try to get on the island. AND AGAIN, once she was told she could not access and refuse to leave...she is now tresspassing....hence the call for the police. A-Rod is guilty here of ONLY exaggeration.

Arod is trying to discredit her. But it won't work. Arod lied about what happened.

Excellent post. The only thing is, the line where asterisks should begin and end is a very grey area.

They banned Pete Rose for gambling. They didn't give him a 30 day or 100 day suspension. They gave him a lifetime ban for the first incident.

That it is. You can start with the 104 and add the Mitchell report, and any other name they know about, and aren't telling us. You won't catch them all, but you can start blood testing now, and catch the future ones. Everybody is under suspicion now. If you got nothing to hide- take the tests.

I remember a few months ago how a lot of us didn't think A-Roid was one of "them". I was one who didn't think so, and I wasn't alone. Now I want to know every name that is on those lists. I'm tired of guessing, and I feel betrayed. Every time I see something remarkable I wonder.... My children shouldn't have to second guess this like I am.

I agree, but I do believe more will stay away for economic reasons and MLB will use that as their sole excuse for any declining revenues.

I'm pretty sure the rest of the Sport's World has come to a standstill. This is pretty much the only Sports Thread on SG's that's getting any hits. We're up to 19 pages and this thread is less than 3 days old.

Anyone else sick and tired about talking about Roids?

All great points. But believing the union will EVER agree to blood tests is a fairy tale.

salsa,
am i halucinating here? my understanding, from what i believe you to be saying, is that the police escorted her off the island before she had a chance to get past the guard shack. if she had been ringing his doorbell or trying to crawl through a window, then i think he would have had her arrested for trespassing. i mean, if it were me, i would have.

even if the police didn't arrest her for trespassing, i'm sure they could have issued a trespass warant, which i believe would be public record.

OK...let's try this one more time.

She came to Star Island and asked if it was private or public....county records state it is public...a GUARD BEFORE you get close to ANY HOUSE should tell you otherwise. More than likely, she asked which one is A-Rod's house. More than likely he asked her is she was expected by him, as a courtesy to ALL the celebrities that live on the island, the guard probably called A-Rod's house to tell him. A-Rod said no and the guard probably did NOT let het in because there IS an "arm" over the entrance and he didn't open it. When more than likely she made a stink about she thought this was public and not private and he called Miami Beach Police. The came out, the guard more than likely said A-Rod does not want her near his property and police told he she must leave...she made no issue and she left with a Miami Beach police car behind her. A-Rod probably assumed the cops arrested her. When the WSVN spoke to the Miami Beach PD, that is exactly what they said.

No issue...there was no arrest and she left peaceful after the cops to her she could not stick around. She probably could of made MORE of a stink...but the cops would have probably arrested her.

This is the way I feel too. Betrayed, cheated, lied to. Steroids and other PED's make our beloved sports stars inhuman. I can't relate to that at all. The innocence of a childhood game has been stripped away forever. And that's a crying shame. :(

I haven't felt this way since I found out Santa Clause was a made up story.

I don't really care about this argument, but it's pretty funny how many assumptions are made in this post! :D

It was a first incident but he did things that effected games he was part of . And the reason I believe Rose should stay banned is because he lied about it for years. It was only when he wrote a book that he told the truth. But before he did he trashed people for years that accused him of betting on games.

As for Arod, he's got a much bigger problem on his hands. This is not going away soon.

Bigger than being banned for life?

The post isn't meant for you....someome asked me a question and I am answering it.;);) BY the way, IF you had read it, the cops CONFRIMED what I assumed when they spoke to the local Fox affiliate. But you conveniently forgot that part I guess....my bad...;)
