Alex Rodriguez tests positive for steroids and now ADMITS it

Does it really matter what A-Rod, Clemens or Bonds did? Are they going to take those players pay away? No. I really don't care what they do, and neither did baseball. Baseball wanted more HRs, and they turned a blind eye, so they don't care.

Fans keep going to games in record numbers, so they don't care.

So why do you care?

BINGO!

All I hear are crickets...

Who is going to join HD's fan revolution and stop spending money on baseball either directly, by going to games, or indirectly, by not watching on TV, so ratings fall and MLB has to do something to fix the game?

Anyone? Bueller? Anyone?

Sandra

I feel as if baseball has made great strides in this area. Yes, they had to drag the union kicking and screaming but since about 2005 they have put out a good testing program and put some teeth into penalties. The next question is, what will they and the union do next to ensure fans the game and players are clean? As long as they continue to make strides I will support baseball.

I will continue to watch. Steroid doesn't make you hit the ball. You can be assured there are a lot of players through out time who used and never got caught because there was no testing. Yankee fans will boo until he starts producing wins for them. Then all is forgotten.

ANOTHER BINGO!! Man....we're on a roll!!

Look, maybe if I explain how Star Island is, you might understand it better. I have added a pic so you can see. The island comes off the McCarthur Causeway heading toward South Beach...that lone street is the ONLY way in or out. When you get on the street and get to the Island, there is a security guard....UNLESS someone is expecting you, 99% of them time they will NOT let you in. After they tell you no... and you insist on stay, you are now tresspassing.

She was asked to leave private property and she refused, therefore, the security guard called the police. She was escorted out. Like I said, "stalking" might have been too strong of a word...BUT she was somewhere she was NOT supposed to be and NOT allowed to be and she didn't wanna leave.

a. have you seen the police report?

b. are you saying this based on what the police mouthpiece said?

He also stated, if I am mistaken, that the reporter never went to A-Rod's house...yet there is the Miami Beach police ON LOCAL TV(wsvn Fox affliate in Miami) stating that the 'female in question refused to leave and she was escorted off the island without incident'.....

please tell me you aren't totally believing the cops? i was a cop reporter among other things and as i said in a preious post, pr people lie or they stretch the truth so much, it hardly resembles the truth.

you get me a copy of the police report and make it public. then and only then will i back down from my stand!

Are you Jose Canseco? A-Rod has about 8 years left in his contract...the Yankees have the best player in baseball signed adn sealed. He did something when alot of players were doing it and there were no rules about it...it was the Wild, Wild West...so to speak. He admitted he took a banded substance which is EXACTLY what EVERYONE was clamouring for. Now, is there more Yankees on the list? Possibly...Should they release the names? YES. Should MLB ALSO be investigated for their part in it? YES!

Oh and by the way, for the umpteenth time....the reporter tried to get to Star Island UNINVITED...that makes you a tresspasser and was escorted out....BY POLICE. THAT is not lying.....

how many ways must i say this..............who or what the he@@ is your source?

Now I believe her when it comes to The U confrontation, if you wanna call it that. As far as her being close to his property, she is telling the truth that she never set foot on his property because she was NEVER GIVEN ACCESS to the island. I can assume A-Rod thought she was arrested because the police escorted her OFF THE ISLAND(damn, that sounds so "Survivor"...LOL) when they told her she had no permission by the guard after he called A-Rod's home. His reponse is very typical of ANY celebrity avoid the press after a major scandal.....that is obvious. Like I said, she is a reporter trying do her job and get confirmation to a story. The word A-Rod used of "stalking" is too strong a word....but she DID try to get on the island. AND AGAIN, once she was told she could not access and refuse to leave...she is now tresspassing....hence the call for the police. A-Rod is guilty here of ONLY exaggeration.

All I hear are crickets...

Anyone? Bueller? Anyone?
What's your point?? Are you saying we can't be critical of something we may enjoy, without still supporting it in some way??

MLB would just blame the effects of any boycott actions on the bad economic times anyway, so why bother...

thanks hd.

what i find even funnier is the fact, roberts is refusing to let espn interview her. abc news has interviewed her; cnn has interviewed her; bob costas and mlb network has interviewed her and now dan patrick has.

i think this proves that espn lost its crediability to be a legtimate news organization years ago.

so arod owned up to taking performance enhancing drugs during the time in question. i've seen his gammons interview several times. and from where i sit, no matter how many times gammons tried to poke holes in arod's story, he kept repeating the same things over and over again.

now, in my 25 plus years working in the news business, this reeks of a rehearsed confession on arod's part. no doubt that scott boras (and yeah, i can't stand him) went through the script with arod enough times. for all i know, the whole thing could have been rehearsed several times!

a. have you seen the police report?

b. are you saying this based on what the police mouthpiece said?

A... NO, I have not seen the report. I live about 20 minutes FROM Star Island and people are CONSTANTLY turned down because of who lives there. I have had it happen to friends and family before because they wanted to see the houses where the famous live.

B... YES and NO. Yes meaning yeah they have a report but has she said WHAT'S ON THE REPORT? NO! She just keeps saying "I have a report from the police". To state she wasn't arrested...and no one in the Miami Beach ploice department as not stated that...and A-Rod assumes it. Also, YOU should know better. BOTH of us have worked in media and BOTH know that IF a report has a SUPER hot story...one that could possibly MAKE or BRAKE them...they will do JUST ABOUT ANYTHING to get the exclusive FIRST...! You know that better than ANYONE HERE..... The ONLY thing the mouthpiece for the Miami Beach police said was they were called to Star Island because someone wanted access to go to a house and that person was denied and asked to leave, when that person refused....they were called to assist and she was escorted off the island and she went without incident. So what does that say...? It says she wanted access to go to his house and they said no. WHAT do you think she was gonna do....yep....knock/ring the doorbell/ until SOMEONE answerd her questions...YOU KNOW THAT and so does everyone else. Was she gonna break in, no....but she WAS gonna stick around until either A-Rod talked to her or SOMEONE can answer some questions. Not stalking...but definately harassing.

Ice and Salsa,

I just posted Selena Robert's response. See here....... http://www.satelliteguys.us/1699130-post339.html

We've all listened to A-Rod's interview with Peter Gammons by now. As the public, we have these two statements to go by. Whichever one you side with is up to you. At this point, it's he said, she said.

The thing is ...the cops didn't say anything but what they did. There is no underlyign meaning...not read between the lines. The were called, and she was escorted out. They did NOT say she was arrested...

salsa,
am i halucinating here? my understanding, from what i believe you to be saying, is that the police escorted her off the island before she had a chance to get past the guard shack. if she had been ringing his doorbell or trying to crawl through a window, then i think he would have had her arrested for trespassing. i mean, if it were me, i would have.

even if the police didn't arrest her for trespassing, i'm sure they could have issued a trespass warant, which i believe would be public record.

Spoken like a true journalist.

I go by the line: "If your own Mother says she loves you, ask for a source."

and to think i've been retired for 10 years! in any event, i'm waiting for any news agency to get a copy of the police report, etc and do a story. in the interim, i'm sure the real truth remains somewhere in the middle!!

I agree it would be nice to know who the leak was. I'm also curious as to why he leaked A-rod's name and not any others.
No...Someone DID leak it. And that someone is leaking information that was suposed to be sealed. I would like to know who leaked just as much as the other players who failed. Because IF it was done by the MLB offices, then the motive could be to bring down the players union by the owners. We ALL REMEMBER how the owners have turned the position of Commissioner into spagetti crap....I want to know if they are trying the same thing with the players union also....

...to me, this smells as alot more than who took steroids.....

I may have skipped a page of posts in this thread. Why does anyone gve a damn whether a reporter made a nuisance of herself or not, or how much of a nuisance of herself she made..

The problem is the fact it was sealed after they got their hands on it. However, your post kind of makes me wonder if something didn't happen during that transfer and combing of the list that would have resulted in others knowing the names of those on the list.
The Feds got their hands on the list when they raided BALCO. Once they have it, God knows where else it went. It's a huge reach to start blaming MLB when the list is all over the place. You even have to wonder if the former Mrs. A-Rod has an axe to grind, and was one of the four 'sources'.

Peter Gammons Regrets Not Sticking Up For Roberts

SI writer Jeff Pearlman criticized ESPN's Peter Gammons for the way he handled the Alex Rodriguez interview, accusing the venerable baseball writer of "softball questions and limited inquisitiveness."

Following a series of claims by A-Rod against Selena Roberts, Gammons said absolutely nothing.

Today he offers a response.....

I think in retrospect, I should have interrupted the A-rod rant. My first question asked if Selena's story were true, he essentially admitted it was, and I believed she was therefore vindicated. I usually don't get into grudges, and felt he was promoting her book, which will be her response. I was trying to get Alex in his own words, but Jeff's criticism has merit that I accept.
