AL EAST 2009

Welcome to the forum! :)

The more Red Sox fans the merrier! ;)

Thanks!
And what a disappointing game that was last night, between Dice-K getting beat up on at the mound, pretty much all of our batters getting shut down by Padilla, and the few that actually made it to base getting picked off. Oh well, on to the Yanks!

Another remote control burnout tonight:

Yankees-Sox (weather permitting) at the Fens.

Red Wings going for their second consecutive Cup.

NBA Finals- Game 3.

At least the start times are staggered.

I can only imagine (unfortunately :(), what it would be like around here tonight, IF the Celtics and Bruins both made it to their respective championship round.

Yankees-Red Sox pitching matchups:

Tuesday: Burnett vs. Beckett

Wednesday: Wang vs. Wakefield

Thursday: Sabathia vs. Penny

Heading to the beach for the afternoon of sun, sand and cocktails. Then, I'll be heading in around dinner time to start the steamer for some cajun style clams, shrimp, corn on the cobb and andouille sausages. All to be ready before I settle in for a night of SPORTS! Gawd! Life is tough!!! ;) :)

PS. The house is mostly full of Pens fans so it'll be a tense night, however the wife and I will be rooting strong for the Red Wings!

Wow, we're having the same day ... minus the beach, minus the great food, plus alot of work... :( Ok so I guess all we have in common is the night of sports! :p

******BillD1984's disclaimer prior to Yankees-Red Sox series*******

If you think I'm making too big a deal out of a series in early June..........damn straight I am.

That's what WE do around here when it's Yankees-Red Sox......everything gets magnified.

If you read into it that I think the winner of this series is going to the World Series....go sign up for a reading comprehension class.

So if you don't like all the Yankees-Red Sox chatter..................either:

A. start up some Blue Jays/Rays/Orioles talk

B. go to one of the other baseball threads in this forum and talk up YOUR team

*************************************************************

NOW back to your regularly scheduled program....................................

This Yankees/Red Sox series, IMO, is very big consisdering how different the Yanks have played since their last series.

Last time, it was a Boston budgeoning.

Let's see if these streaking Yanks are, as some people think, WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE!

The Sox are 5-0 against the Yankees so far, but in all fairness, A-Rod didn't play in any of those games. Plus, CC has yet to face the Sox.

These teams match up how I thought they would back before the season started: the starting rotations are fairly even, the Sox have a significant advantage in the bullpen (bridge to the closers is a BIG advantage to the Sox) and the Yankees have a fairly decent advantage in the lineups.

The man is hangin' in there! :D

I was browsing thru the games over the weekend and saw Nick playing and thought to myself that you guys must just be beside yourselves!!!!!
This is how desperate they've become:

The Red Sox have left no stone unturned in looking at or discussing deals for shortstops. Whether they actually pull the trigger on something is up for debate internally as the team patiently awaits the return of Jed Lowrie, who has a great chance to fend off this shortstop talk if he'd accelerate his return to the Sox lineup. Among those on the list: Omar Vizquel, Jack Wilson, J.J. Hardy, Orlando Cabrera, Bobby Crosby, Jason Donald, Miguel Tejada.
