AL EAST 2009

Thank God I have the Cavs to distract me from the Indians this early in the season. :)

BTW Bill, that 12 runs without recording an out is a new MLB record!

HD, I caught a piece of that game before going into Honda Center for the Ducks game. That blow up in the inning with Sowers happened so quickly and got out of hand so fast I likened it to the current Santa Barbara fires we have out here. On Tuesday, no one saw anything more than a modest fire away from homes. On Wednesday night the "sundowner" winds kicked in and all hell broke loose.

The Tribe got hit by a "sundowner"!!!!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek:

I didn't know that until this morning. I was busy watching the other Cleveland team mop the floor with the Hawks!:eek::eek:

I realize this is the wrong thread, but don't make any plans for around Father's Day, Matt. A parade is a comin' to Cleveland! ;)

Report: Smoltz Visited Dr. James Andrews For 'Peace of Mind'
By: Alex Speier
According to a report in the Daily Item of Lynn, Red Sox starter John Smoltz visited with Dr. James Andrews after his recent setback to make sure that his recovery from shoulder surgery was proceeding in a normal fashion. The pitcher said that he received peace of mind from the visit.

“I needed that part,” Smoltz told the Daily Item of the reassurance offered by Andrews. "Maybe there for a little bit it was my body’s way of saying slow down a little bit. It almost was supposed to happen earlier, based on protocol. It just happened a little later.”

Seems like a common thing of late .

The Red Sox trailing 3-0 in the sixth inning, come back and defeat the Rays, 7-3.

Jason Bay tied the game with a three run homer on an 0-2 pitch from James Shields. Bay now has 9 homers on the year...............Manny who?

You convinced me about how good Bay was; why would I go against that?

Besides, Josh Hamilton's on the DL- I need someone to fill in.

I was just kidding anyway. ;)

As much as I love Bay, I couldn't give up a pitcher like Peavy. They don't exactly grow on trees. :)

A-Rod returned tonight, and his first swing resulted in a three run homer.

YES!!! I've got to activate him on MY fantasy team ASAP!

400+ at-bats for previous Yankee 3B fill-in's without a single home run this year.

0 at-bat's (first pitch swing) by A-Rod was a Home run!!! As funny as this may seem, this dysfunctional Yankee team needs A-Rod now more than ever.

Do you all really think they have been waiting for Rodriguez to get back to start playing ????

They have a lot more issues than one guy.
Does he pitch as well as hit ?

If I recall, every year they get on this guy about how pitiful he is and NOW they are expecting him to be the difference that sets everything right ?

fwiw, I like Alex, always have, followed his career since the beginning.
But can the yankees do anything about that stupid call that Micheal Kay does when he hits one out.

One HR this year so far and I'm already SICK of hearing it.

Jimbo

Jimbo, there's no doubt the Yankees have serious bullpen issues (I STILL think that they're better off with Joba in the bullpen.........but that's an issue for another day), but I certainly think A-Rod can light a spark under this team. If nothing else, Tex will get a lot more pitches to hit.

I do not support A-Rod (or any of these other enhanced cheaters) in any way.
But reality says if A-Rod is back in the lineup, the Yankees are a much better team.

I guess my point was, the yankees are not a game under .500 because he wasn't there.
Of course he will help them, I just hate to see him blamed for all the yankee problems and everyone expects him coming back to suddenly FIX all these issues.

Huh? No one expects him to be the miracle elixir to all of the Yankee woes, but another bat in a lineup that's struggling right now certainly won't hurt. Especially with Posada recently going to the DL, Matsui still slowly recovering from offseason surgery and Texiera who is off to a slow start offensively.

Red Sox got rolled by the Rays, 14-5.

Rays are now 6-3 vs. the Sox this year.

I gotta say, that Evan Longoria is the REAL DEAL!
