Cabrera homer! If the season ended today he would be the first triple crown winner since 1965.

'67....Frank Robinson won in '66 and Yastrzemski in '67. Regardless, it has been 45 long, long years. Anyway, if Cabrera wins the Triple Crown does he also win MVP? I say so, but not the ESPN Trout lovers. Also, we gotta find a regular place for Andy Dirks in the lineup next years.

Ha so maybe I was off by a couple years. It's ridiculous to even consider anyone else for the MVP whether he wins it or not. Just to come this close to something no one has done in 45 years automatically means you had a better season than anyone else. ESPN loves the rookie they can push down our throats. Cabrera doesn't have near the interview personality that Trout has. That doesn't means he isn't the best player.

Gonna be 2 down, 4 to play. Need to win out now to have a chance.

It's not over yet. Twins just hit a grand slam off Benoit. It's now 6-4 Tigers in the 8th.

This discussion is really easy to decide between the two of them ....

Look what each player (stats are close thru the season) has done down the stretch when the team need them most.

Cabrera's hit .340
Trout has hit about .260

Fwiw, Cabrera doesn't get any love for what he's done at 3b either, but he's ranked #6 in baseball defensively.
I'd say thats NOT bad.

We hang on give JV the win and move two games ahead of the White Sox. JV finished the year 17-8 with a 2.64 ERA and 239 Strikouts - good enough to win 20-games with a little more run support. Too bad...it cost him another Cy Young.

I'm wondering and the Sox fans will be able to better address this.

Verlander and Sox rookie SP Chris Sale both ended the season at 17-8.
Very nice years for both, however, JV has started to get it together of late while Sale has not pitched well the last several times out.

I'm wondering if he has hit the rookie wall they all talk about.
They typically pitch about half the innings that they end up with in the Pros.

He has without a doubt hit the wall. With that being said I do not blame him for thos this bad outing. This team has overachieved and They just could not take advantage of it. I am pleased we were even in it going into the last week of the season. Next year will be very interesting. Will konerko decide to play a full year and I am sure we will not have the same production from rios and Dunn. Not to mention peavy will be gone.
