Did you see Smyly today in his FIRST MLB start ?

He walked the first guy, second guy got a broken bat single and walked the next guy....
Quite a start for the guy, bases loaded no out 1st inning in your 1st start ....

Then ... he got the next guy to pop out and K'd the next two guys and got out of the inning giving up NO runs !!!!

Way to go :)

Next start needs to be better and go longer.

Quite an impressive Houdini act !

Smyly's line was 4 innings, 4 hits, 1 run, 3 BB, 4 K's

Pitch count got high, came out early.

Yep he looked like he belonged out there today once he got out of that first inning jam. Rod Allen mentioned that he was getting a little predictable throwing first pitch fast balls to every hitter. They started to hit him pretty hard right after he said that so I think he might be right. Overall it was a great big league debut though.
 
Cleveland signed Johnny Damon to help replace Sizemore. I know he is getting old but I still think this was a great signing for the Indians. I would be surprised if he isn't leading off by the end of the season. Johnny Damon says he has deal with Cleveland Indians - ESPN

Edit: Speaking of Cleveland, where is HD MM? We're basically only hearing from Tigers and Twins fans so far this year.

Yep and it's a pitching duel so far. Scherzer looks like a completely different pitcher than he did at the game I went to Sunday.
 
Tigers Adam Wilk makes his MLB Starting debut Saturday at 4 pm ..

So they went with Smyly on Thursday and Wilk on Saturday.

Should be fun, but man do I HATE losing to the Wh. Sox ....

I'm glad they're getting the national exposure they deserve and Illitch is getting more national tv money. However, I'll take Rod and Mario over these national announcers any day.

Mario and Rod work well together, rod cracks me up with some of his sayings :)
 
WTF??? Mario is beautiful! I still miss him calling Angels games. But ROD???? Rod is ....ah....one of the .....ah....worst....ah men I have .....ah....ever heard call a .....ahhhh....a.....game. He keeps "ahhhh"ing all over the place and I have to change the channel.

But I do admit Mario is a top 10 PBP man.

I'll have to agree to disagree. I do think Mario Impemba is much better than Rod Allen. Mario was born and raised in Michigan and it shows. You can tell he is an actual fan of the other area sports teams while Rod feels like an outsider whenever that topic comes up. I think he really knows the game of baseball though and he gives a good player perspective. Like satjay mentioned his little sayings are sometimes funny too.
 
Nice pickup by the twins, as they pickup Clete Thomas who the tigers designated for assisnment, yet Brandon Inge still has a spot on this team???

Thiomas will actually get a chance to play in Minnesota ... maybe.

As for Inge, yes, he's back, hopefully Leyland won't be inclined to throw him right in the line up.
Then again, what the heck, put him in, can't be any worse than Raburn with his chance to hit and keep playing .... he's hitting a whopping .080 so far in the season thru 7 games.

IF the line up they just showed is true, Brandon Inge is going to DH for them today.
