Good win for the Twins. Pavano has been good, especially when they really need him.

Second half will be interesting if the Twins and Tigers get a little more consistent and the White Sox (I throw up a little every time I type that name) come back to earth.

If your in 1st place after the 162nd game, it really doesn't matter where you were the other 161. I'll just take a repeat of the 1983 season, Sox were 14-26 and finshed 85-37 for 99 wins and to win the division by 20 games. Since they were 24-33 this year, they'd have to go 75-30 to get to 99 wins. With 25-5 out of the way, now have to go 50-25 .

Take the next 25, 3 game series and you have them winning 2 games out of each one. That's a pretty tall feat, to say the least.

Not saying I think they'll do it, saying that's what it would take to get to 99 wins again. But going 25-5 was quite a feat too. At the current pace, 91 wins will win the division.

There's still a half-season left to play - should be a good one. The Sox start at Minnesota after the All-Star break, and Detroit goes on-the-road against Cleveland.

I know that it means NOTHING at this point, it just annoys me that they were doing great and in 1st place and gave it up just before the ASG, the same thing has happened to them in the last 4-5 years alot, losing the pennant on the last day that is.

Quick look at the schedule, the Tigers have 4 days OFF, that should help them, good time to re energize the rookies.

I always thought that the teams all started back up on Thursday, but some wait till Friday.

With this being the case, the Tigers could be back in 1st place before playing another game !
