AL Central 2010

Ok, what's the deal with Perry? This guy is a bust at this point in the season, if he doesn't turn it around quickly.

Wasn't he the "closer" of the future at one point?

Closer of the future ?
Zumaya was the closer of the future too.

Tigers NEVER announce that someone is being groomed for the Closer spot that I'm aware of.

Whats wrong with Perry ?

5.47 era 1.62 whip! .282 baa!

Nothing much, but all of that..

Did you see that he spent half of June in AAA , and friday he looked terrible?

This guy was supposed to be a staple of the bullpen, and I honestly remember talk of him, if he progressed, to be looked at as a closer.

Just like Porcello, this guy has regressed this year.

Porcello will be fine.
Perry is in his second year ..... the only reason he's in there now is because Zumaya went down.
There are a lot of similarities between the two.

ya know I thought about this last night

Sunday was one of those weird days where the Twins beat the 1st place team (Detroit) and STILL lost 1/2 game....betcha that doesnt happen very often

Your OLD news .......
However even though the Tigers are disputing that report, you'll never know till trade deadline day.
Anyone COULD be traded.

Leyland disputed it, saying it was a lie. Dombrowski stated that he wasn't untouchable, but he's someone we aren't looking to trade.

To me that says, we'll drive up the price with Porcello and be content if nothing happens. But, we're still looking at this trade over here with these guys.

You must be looking at it wrong.
IF your team won, it cannot LOSE ground in the standings.

At the end of Saturday, the Twins were 4 GB and after the win on Sunday they were 3.5 GB

IF Porcello gets traded, it better be for a MUCH better pitcher.

He could be part of a trade for Oswalt, claims he won't come, Haren, would be another good choice, but I'd rather have a Porcelo pitching well.
There has been talks of Ted Lilly as well.

Remember, Porcello's only in his second year as well.

Also, the Tigers have a lot of young hard throwers in the minors that some may potentially be trade bait as well.

And dontrell, and robertson, and inge. I like inge, but really?
Dontrell and the others we're still paying for goes without saying. As far as Inge...yeah, it's a big much, but he's been in the organization a while and is loved by the fans. Plus, he's maxed-out and will gladly stay with the club for less money in the future.

Ya, I don't see Inge going anywhere.

Guys, look at the pitching staff. Who's the fifth starter here(or the 4th)? Oliver ain't cutting it, did he make the flight/bus outta here on time?

And Zumaya was lights out, and who's going to fill those shoes?

All I hear is about the Drew guy for a shortstop and I'm more concerned about the pitching, not that we don't need a shortstop...

Leyland is begging for bullpen help, publicly at least, but I really think we could use another starter. Oswalt says he ain't coming here, and no one seems to want Haren.

As a Tiger fan, going into this All Star break I have more questions then answers.

I heard last week that the Tigers were looking at 4 relievers, I think only 1 that I would LIKE to have and that was the KC closer that was mentioned, Soria. That would be a great move, he would take Zumaya's place at the moment.

Twins won so they were 3 games back at the end of the game...Detroit was technically still in 1st
Chicago won later in the day...leapfrogged Detroit and the Twins went to 3 1/2 games back

normally when you beat the 1st place team you gain a game

WEEI's Dennis and Callahan to be simulcast live on NESN

Don't look now, but Steve Lavin is making St. John's relevant again
