AL Central 2010

He's doing OK for this game. 6 innings, only 3 runs. Not too bad. Not good, but not bad.
Bonderman reminds me of an old girlfriend I dated back in the mid-80s. Nice girl, beautiful girl and Miss Georgia contestant...but she only looked that way because she starved herself and was literally one cheeseburger away from exploding into a heffer. That's exactly how I feel when Bonderman pitches...me may look good from time-to-time, but he is always one pitch away from allowing the other team to explode with a big inning. I'm tired of fooling myself into thinking that he will get any better - he will only get worse. With a lifetime ERA at nearly at 5.00 and a record of 63-73 it's time to get rid of this 12.5M anchor from our pitching rotation. Who and the heck agreed to pay him 12.5M when he's never done anything to rate anything close to this salary?

Yeah if only it had a real play-by-play man. This Big Fox guy is a moron. "Welcome back to Comerica Field". "Brendan Boesch is up." "Nick Punto [like punt in football] catches it."

Stockten has been around a while, he's for sure more of a basketball guy, I remember him calling basketball back in the old days for CBS with those Piston/Celtic battles!

While this may sound like an excuse, in 06 he was really coming along (other then the first inning) since that blood clot injury he has had to change his game, but yes the extention he got back then was big. But these days they are all getting big contracts-Dont want to go off topic but I saw that Darko Milleic just got a two year deal at about 5 million

Ok, I see what you're saying and agree with it mostly.

So I ask you this; who do you want them to bring in or is it more a of bring someone up? I mean, they're in the middle of a pennant chase, and replacing someone like Bonderman isn't that easy to do.

Yep, I remember 2006 very well, but that was 4-years ago and he has not developed into the pitcher we had hoped. It's time to revisit this relationship IMO.

That's a great questions. To be honest, I could easily live with a middle-of-the-road pitcher like Bonderman in the line-up and wouldn't say much if he were making a middle-of-the-road 3-6M per year. However, for 12.5M he should, at minimum, be producing a winning record and maintaining an ERA around 4.00.

Now my thoughts...oh well
Its game what 88 or something like that? I'm not worried. Remember last year the Twins were 8 out at the break and won the Central.

Its not how you do in June and July...its how you finish

Now Morneau being out a few more days isnt good. He's skipping the ASG...So if Girardi was smart he'd start Cabrera there ;)

Weird to see Slowey in relief today...guess the days off makes sense to have him pitch

Unfortunately, I am just speaking the truth. I've had enough of Bonderman and I would rather bring someone up from Toledo.

Ok guys,
I have to say , I did NOT see todays game but, Bonderman's numbers look like this : 6 innings, 4 hits and 3 runs, 1 BB and 2 K's.

What more do you want, he held the TWINS to 3 runs and the team WON.

He will be gone next year, contract is up and Jacobs will be here and probably Oliver too.

You look at his over all ERA, but you failed to realize the last few years what he's gone thru JUST to get back on the field.
I commend him for making it back.

Why the BIG salary, if you recall a few short years ago, we had NO ONE other than JV. Bonderman AND Robertson signed huge contracts because we HAD NO ONE ELSE.
If you think the Bonderman contract was bad, and it was, just look at all the money we threw to Dontrelle in the last 3 years, for a total of what 6 wins ?

How many # 4-5 pitchers do you know that have an era under 4 ?

Your forgetting that he's NOT a 1,2 or 3 pitcher for the Tigers, the contract is what it is, when he signed it he was a # 2 pitcher, before his serious injury.

You watch, with Girardi managing, he'll probably chose Texeria to be added to the line up ..... wouldn't surprise me if he tried to get his guy to start, or pulled Cabrera early.

WEEI's Dennis and Callahan to be simulcast live on NESN

Don't look now, but Steve Lavin is making St. John's relevant again
