AL Central 2010

Yeah, right. This boy's only reason for being here is that 100 MPH fastball, which he will still have come next season. How do you break your elbow throwing a ball anyhow? Control pitcher? He will need a couple of more pitches, and a whole lot more control.

He'd been working on a change up and a slider, they mentioned last night that he had scrapped his curve ball.

Plenty of hard-throwing pitchers have returned to action and have had successful careers after injuries. OK, perhaps not that many but Detroit local (Catholic Central) Frank Tanana immediatley comes to mind as a classic hurler turned pitcher. He had 100+ fastball in the early-to-late '70s that was unhittable but was forced to become a pitcher after having arm and shoulder problems. Heck, even Jim Palmer, who was never known for his fastball, was a successful "junk ball" pitcher the 2nd half of his Hall of Fame career.

They just said that Zumaya will be out 4 months, seeing thats more than whats left in the year, yup, we'll see him next year.
Basically he broke the bone at the end of his elbow.

They showed same thing on Tigers pregame show. He kept saying whys this stuff keep happening to me. Poor guy.
I understand how he feels and have empathy for the guy...but I honestly have no sympathy. Life is not fair and most people are not gifted with an arm to throw a 100 mph fastball nor do they receive a 915K paycheck to sit out the season. Hopefully he will use this time wisely and work on his education during rehab.

Anyone watch the Tigers pre-game yesterday? Had a segment with Twins RF about how difficult it is to play right field at Target because of the weird positioning and multiple materials used in the wall. Maggs isn't used to it yet.

WEEI's Dennis and Callahan to be simulcast live on NESN

Don't look now, but Steve Lavin is making St. John's relevant again
