622 Receiver and Comcast cable modem co-use of cable lines?

I have been a customer of Dish network for several years, using a 622 receiver feeding a downstairs HDTV directly and an upstairs TV through the existing cable lines run through the house. The coax from the dish to the 622 is a separate line run by the installer. Up to now I have been using Verizon DSL for my Internet, but they are so slow I have been thinking a lot about replacing the Internet with Comcast cable modem service. My question is: Can both the Comcast internet and the 622 output to the separate TV share the existing coax cable in the house, or will there by interference, and if so, what is the solution? I really don't want to run any more coax if I don't have to, and I don't want to lose that feed to the upstairs TV. Thanks in advance!:)

You can do it, but there is almost always bad interference.

I've heard some people have been able to use filters to reduce it, but it is usually not worth the hassle

You may want to have a separate line run by the cable co. to a different room and use a wireless router

You have to run a separate additional coax line, if this is for cable internet, and if it's going to a cable modem. It'll never work sharing the LNB/switch coax coming from the sat dish, and going to the 622. Besides, I seriously doubt Comcast will ever agree to share the present coax anyway, even supposing it could work.

It can work but it could cost you a fortune (in both dollars and signal levels) getting there. It is best not to open up that can of whoop-ass on yourself.

I recommend running some new interior wire (either RG6 for the cable modem or CAT5e for the router).

Comcast would probably do it, but dish would not allow it because the frequencies of the two services are too close together and will definately cause interference

It would work with a Diplexer, but the issue I see is that if you start to have problems with your cable modem and ask Comcast to send out a technician, they are going to blame the issue on the Diplexer, remove it and say you need to call DISH Network to run a new line. If you request a technician from DISH Network, they will also remove the Diplexer, blame Comcast and tell you to call Comcast to run a new line.

Usually what happens is that we do a Satellite TV install on a pre-wired home and the customer cancels Cable and we then use the existing lines run through the walls. Customer gets Cable Internet several months later, and the idiot cable installer comes out and decides he is too lazy to run a new line and disconnects the Dish and hooks up the cable modem.

We get the call to go out there because the Dish is not working, see the Cable Company used the line we where using before, and then we got to charge the customer to re-run their line for Dish, or tell them to call back the Cable company back to do the job right.

If you can't run a wire, the other option might be to put the cable modem in another room where there is an available cable outlet, and since most modems have a wireless access point built in to them, simply get a wireless bridge, or you could also use those powerline eithernet extenders.

Turns out there was an unused cable run into an upstairs bedroom that was not sharing anything with the Dish network setup. Comcast tech ran the Internet into that outlet and put in the cable modem and a wireless router into that outlet, and everything works great!
Thanks for the inputs!:)
