522 or 721?

All I want is a PVR/DVR that will allow me to watch MNFootball while recording my wife's shows on another channel at the same time. I'm not interested in having two TV's or switching the antenna on my television.

Which is better for this, the 721? or 522?

522 is cheaper. (free on new installs)

721 is shiny, and not too prevalent. So if you're an elitist who needs something noone else has, or you have an attraction to shiny things, get a 721.

Otherwise, they're almost the same.

522 requires a rental contract. The 721 can be had like any normal receiver package.
