4k TV Problem with Hopper w/ Sling?

I realized it on an intellectual level but would have been happy to have been wrong. Thanks for confirming.

well if you hooked it to a 720tv, it had to be outputting 720 or lower
just double check the output rez

Almost universally, yes, and I would not expect that to result in the display problems the OP describes in any case. If the TV could not handle 1080i/p, it should just result in a blank screen or maybe an out of range error message.
