2024-2025 NCAA Football Thread

Either way, my thoughts and prayers go to those in the SEC sphere. No teams in the Semi-FInals (let's not kid ourselves folks). The B12, B10, "had" at least one team in it. And Notre Dame was in it! It got so bad, the SEC fans had to pretend they thought Texas was an SEC team. So devastating, it killed President Jimmy Carter.

So a moment of reflection for those in the SEC world that have to pretend real hard that they don't really care about this at all. :angel2

Place : the Heart of the SEC

What ?
No Home Field for the SEC this time ???

Lets hope the Refs don't decide to take center stage.
Let them Play

Not sure what conference the Refs will be from. (hopefully, not the sec) (as it turns out, they Were from the sec)

The halftime score wasn't as big as Jimbo predicted, but the Irish certainly tried to claw it back in the end. The Irish Defense did not "Play like a Champion" especially with the Roughing the Passer call when they had stopped the Buckeyes and would have forced a punt. Instead, OSU continued their drive and ate up more clock time. Likewise, the dagger at the end with a brilliant 50 yard pass when ND rushed seven sealed the deal.

Congratulations to the Ohio State University Buckeyes! They played a clean game and were clearly the worthy NCAA National Champions. Notre Dame has nothing to be down about, their 2024-2025 season came up one game short in the end.

All things considered, the playoff justified itself from a competitive standard. Good competition, more competitive college football games that we never had an opportunity to see before.

I think there is wisdom to killing the bracket and just going top v bottom after the bye. Otherwise, let's do that again.

I don't know. but when you have the #7 vs #8 in the final game just don't seem right somehow.
That'd be the whole rankings based on very limited data thing.
it's frankly stunning.
Not really. When team schedule involve two to three competitive games, it is generally impossible to say who is the best. The playoffs indicated that the rankings were wrong about the top couple of teams, but right about the inclusion of the #7 and #8 teams.
How about the Commanders vs Chargers in the SB ? NFL #7 vs #8 seeds
They'd need to take out the #1 seed and maybe the #2 or #3 to get there. So that'd be fine.

This is a peculiar complaint. We'd rather have the top four play in a playoff based on silly schedules...(and hope for the best) and then top team comes from that list... instead of having the top 8 or 12 teams play each other through a few rounds, making one team having to earn it by beating three or four of the top 12 teams?

Like you also say something wrong. rankings. but they didn't look outrageous at the start. yes we have no history.
just don't see the need for 12 teams. I think 4 was enough most years. but $$$$.
Should've went 8 saved 12 for more $$$ down the road.
