Great recruiter but never could do it as a coach. His teams are soft, hell he couldn't even beat Florida when they sucked, and he always had good recruiting. I think he will be better than Golden for sure, but he aint the answer to bring the U back.

Those days are long gone and may never happen again. Miami had boxed off ALL recruits from west to east, from north of Tampa to Orlando to Daytona Beach. Coaches across the country realized that the best recruits were coming from that area and they pounced when The U got in trouble. Alabama, UF, FSU, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame and even team like Texas and Arizona jumped in the game.

ALL universities want for their program is to be within the top 8 every year. You assuming a man "ain't" go to bring back The U is an assumption on anyone's part.

Not an assumption when you look at his resume... There is a simple reason he got fired at UGA, and it was he could not produce in that division when the other teams were weak, all while having great recruiting.

It'd be like me claiming that Charles Kelly can still produce a top ten defense at FSU, even though he has squandered talent since he took over in 2014. Aint gonna happen and Jimbo has a tough decision to make. Bad for Richt too is the ACC has some up and coming teams so he didnt move into a gimme.

I fully expect UM to win by at least a score this week, and Jimbo will really be under the gun to make a change.

He got fired because alumni were jealous of Alabama. Didn't matter that Richt was the winningest coach in Georgia history. All they wanted was Kirby Smart who they mistakenly believe is Nick Saban.

A ranking that FSU should never have had. They've been exposed as a pretender, which in turns damages Louisville's "quality" win.

I wouldn't say FSU is that bad..but UNC being that much better. I saw a good UNC team play a decent FSU team but not as good as they have been no I do agree to that.

UM is highly over rated I think - the only team of any value they've beaten is a really low year team in Georgia Tech.
If they beat FSU by 2-3 TD's then yeah maybe I'll be ok with their current ranking in the AP Polls.
Who would you say is the better team in the Coastal to go up against Clemson?

I've been to ball games when we had a tropical storm sitting over Blacksburg years ago... I've been to some games where its rained so damn hard it felt like someone was holding a water hose behind me over my head. If there is no lightening then playball.... but I do understand that if you got 100mph winds...although as I said I remember a tropical storm once and the winds were gusting nearly 50+ and both teams were having to slug it out running the ball.

You play the game some where - anywhere! If you have to move up to another state then so be it but play the game so it gets stats towards a team that could use the win for a bowl game entry.

I read the ACC was thinking about the UNC and VT game and its status because of the storm... well if you can't play it in UNC then play it in VT and just sell onsite tickets and/or just let people in free if they can provide a ticket from the last game or next home game for proof of season ticket holders.
All sorts of things they can do to play this game and others effected by something like this but the game must be played.

If the USCe/Uga game was played in Athens this year, the next 2 would be in Columbia. UGA does not want that, as it means only 5 home games next year.

Their preference would be the Georgia Dome or Grant Field, as Atlanta would be a home game for them, and they'd still keep the home game next year. USCe will never agree to that.

There is always Death Valley, as Clempson is away.
Or better yet, move the game to Dec 3rd, not like either team is going to the Atlanta that weekend.

May all be moot, so the storm looks to be moving out to sea once it hits Brunswick.

If the game had to be moved to Blackburg, since they play every year it would mean swapping with next years game, giving UNC the next 2 games home.
I would think VPI would want to avoid that, as it means 1 less home game next year.

As it is, Chapel Hill isn't anywhere near the storm path, so the game should be fine.

Florida’s home game vs. LSU has been postponed because of Hurricane Matthew. The game was set to be played at Noon ET on Saturday.

“We had a very productive phone call today with a great spirit of cooperation between the universities’ presidents and athletics directors and it became clear that the University of Florida could neither host nor travel to a game this weekend considering the circumstances,” SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey said in a statement. “The developments of the hurricane in the last 24 hours, the projected magnitude of its impact and the unknown aftermath of this storm have resulted in this decision to seek another date to play the LSU-Florida game. We have to be sensitive to the possible imminent disruption to the state of Florida and in particular the Gainesville and surrounding area.”

A rescheduling of the game is tough because neither team has an open date.

As to rescheduling for November and cancelling those games, lsu will likely be against this. It would cost them a home game and all the proceeds that come with it. Refunding the tickets, plus the buyout for the game, and the concession proceeds.

I honestly don't look for it to be played unless they do it in December and possibly push the sec champ game back a week

The Georgia / South Carolina game has been moved to Sunday at 2:30 ...

Now if the Storm has moved past Georgia by Sunday, it's also past Florida, providing theres nothing damaged by the storm, they should also be able to play Sunday, right ?

They are not gonna push the SEC Championship game back ... talk about having to reschedule everything, look at the issues it would cause, all the people going to the game, the airlines and hotels that have been booked already, its not gonna happen.

Like I mentioned, play it on Sunday and be done with it .... just because it may go up against the NFL, isn't a big enough reason to not play the game, it's not like it is a weekly thing, its something that happens once in a great while.

Exactly, it's why UGA never offered up Sanford Stadium, and instead brought up the Ga Dome in Atlanta, because playing in Athens means the next 2 years are in Columbia, and they would only have 5 home games next year. Ga. Dome by being neutral (yeah right) means they keep the home game next year.

LSU didn't lose a home game to USCe from last years move, because they don't play every year, that's why they gave USCe the gate receipts.

As it is, Atlanta would be just as bad as Columbia, as the hotel are full from our own coastal refugees, and our State police are down South as well. Traffic was gridlocked more than halfway down to Macon due to people fleeing from the storm to Atlanta.
