2015 NCAA football discussion thread

I know Florida is not the Florida of the past, but it's always something special when it is Bama vs Florida for the SEC. It's the traditional sec championship matchup and as a Bama fan, when we play this game, that's who I want to play.

LOL, look, you aint on SEC Network, no need for fluff. This game is exactly what everyone knows it is, pretty much the best all around team in the country playing a garbage squad with no depth and no offense. Their defense may make it look pretty for a little bit, but thats it. FSU made em quit in their own house and Bama will roll em.

That side of the SEC is just like the ACC Coastal is most of the time lately, garbage (at least UNC is a bright spot this year). Richt got canned because when UT and UF were sucking wind, he still couldn't take advantage of it. It didn't help that UF rolled UGA last year in an embarrassing fashion, and then lost this year 27-3 to that garbage offense. Richt needed to go, he was done.

At least UT is turning that corner and USCe and Uga are making changes. UF will be real good again soon enough because they got a good coach. If Muschamp, or aneurysm guy as I like to call him, gets the USCe job, good luck with that crap LOL. He couldn't win at UF with loads of talent.

To this weekend.

You sound like nick trying to convince people today that gators are a good club. lol

Though I don't think Bama's offense is as good as last year their defense makes up for it.
Bama by 4 td's.

When I read Saban's quote, I was like dude is trolling UF. I almost fell out of my chair I was laughing so hard. New level of "coach speak".

You guys totally missed the point of my comment. I have no doubt that Bama easily handles florida, as defense aside (which is very good), Bama should be head and shoulders above.

I was talking about the SEC championship, and the historical Bama vs Florida matchup in it. The first game in 92 was Bama and Florida, and the winner won the National Championship. They played in it again against each other in 93, 94, 96, 99, 08, and 09. With the last ranking #1 and #2 and winner taking all. Out of our 10 appearances (counting this year), 8 are against Florida. Out of their 11 (this year) 8 are against us. So to us, and to Florida fans, the SEC championship game is a little more special when we play each other in it.

I got your point of history, but this aint the SEC Champ game anyone wants to see this year. To be honest, there hasn't been a decent SEC Champ game since 2012 matchup wise. You knew Mizzou wasn't gonna take it home in their two trips. It's like the FSU/UF "rivalry" game, or even Auburn vs Bama when one of them sucks. Sure, it has some nostalgia, and I can let that slide on a rivalry game, but this is a conf champ game that will be completely one sided. Snooze fest. ACC has had the same problem, but at least you have UNC this year who may well beat Clemson. Hell, the 2012 ACCCG was a 6-6 GT team vs Fsu. Its sad when the best team a division can put up is a 6-6 team, or something like UF this year. I expect more, but that's just me. The ONLY reason UF is in this game is because Grier started out the first half so good, and the rest of the division SUCKS.

Both the SEC East and ACC Coastal need to do a better job, because I like both these conferences.

I am not arguing the fact that the East is down, and honestly has been for a while. I am simply stating that Bama, and Florida fans have a goal to make it to the champ game, and in doing so, there is not a team that fans of either school would rather play in that game than each other. It is like another built in rivalry game in that setting that you have to earn your way into. I mean we have to play the game no matter who the opponent is. It being Florida (no matter how good they are or aren't this season) makes the game more exciting to our fans than if it were Missouri like last season.

I do always find it humorous that in the past 5 or so years, potential 10 win teams "suck" more than they did in years past. We have certainly gotten spoiled as fans, and recent coaching firings are showing this, when a potential 10 win season is a let down, or for that matter even a 8-9 win season.

This is not just about any particular conference, but talking about college football teams in general. Especially among the bigger football schools.

I dont think it's a matter of a 10 win team sucking as much as it is you better produce when you have the chance. Richt is a good coach, but his record against USCe and UF was terrible. IN a weak division, at Uga, 15 years was plenty of time for him. There was a reason the joke "Uga will never win a natty with Richt" was so accurate. I picked us for 9-3 or 10-2, so I am happy, hell we couldn't even pick a Qb until the end of the season. But I do agree fans are a bit excessive. When we lost to GT on the blocked kick return some were calling for Jimbo's head. You just gotta ignore those idiots. Id take 9-3 and 10-2 consistently vs the roller coaster some of these teams like Auburn have gone through any day. Muschamp went 4-8 one year at UF and USCe is now looking at him for the HC job. That's just silly.

really depends on the Dline they face. If you cant stop Henry without bringing extra men to the line of scrimmage you are in trouble. Stewart, Ridley and that tight end will hurt you. I also think no one gives Coker much credit for the physical running he does at times. McCarron would have never tried any of that. Cokers bad passes are typically when he is getting hit and cant follow through.

Been reading that they may face the Noles in the Peach with a loss to Msu. Im going up to the Peach regardless.
I would figure the Rose. Is that not where the highest rated team would go if the champ goes to the playoffs? I assume they say the Rose takes OSU instead?

Yeah, seems Osu to Fiesta vs ND. Derail there is, if UNC beats Clemson, Final 4 is Bama, Oklahoma, Mich St/Iowa and Ohio St. And Iowa to Rose which makes more sense that the Peach.

Different predictions for the peach have Iowa or Houston (if they win the AAC). Id much rather it be Iowa... My problem with Houston is (they have a good O and mediocre D), if you win it's "well duh" and if you lose because they are pretty good, it's "oh my gawd"...

Here is Fox Sports from today:

DATE BOWL LOCATION MATCHUP
Dec. 31 Peach Atlanta Florida State (at-large) vs. Houston (Group of 5)
Dec. 31 Cotton (semifinal) Arlington, Texas Alabama (CFP No. 2) vs. Oklahoma (CFP No. 3)
Dec. 31 Orange (semifinal) Miami Clemson (CFP No. 1) vs. Michigan St. (CFP No. 4)
Jan. 1 Fiesta Glendale, Ariz. Notre Dame (at-large) vs. Ohio State (at-large)
Jan. 1 Rose Pasadena, Calif. Iowa (B1G) vs. Stanford (Pac-12)
Jan. 1 Sugar New Orleans Ole Miss (SEC) vs. Baylor (Big 12)

Ive seen other outlets plug in Iowa in the Peach, but it seems Houston is more likely as AAC Champs.

I agree that Michigan State is probably the favorite just because they have beaten better teams than Iowa. Michigan State hasn't always looked great this year though. It seems a little weird to assume that Iowa will lose for bowl projections.

They do bowl projections every week, and as they get close to the end they of course get more accurate.

PLus, all you have to do is switch Mich St and Iowa in the projections to get the image of what happens if Iowa wins.

Big one is UNC/Clemson. UNC wins, playoff is 2 Big 10, 1 Big 12 and 1 SEC. Unless Stanford wins and they let em in over Oh St.
