2013 MLB Postseason

I didnt know that ....
So in the long run, everything Bud has done has been xone with his future team in mind.

I have not heard anything about Bud doing any such thing. The reports are that he will teach at a University who's name now escapes me and will write some. I have heard nothing about him reclaiming any stock in the Brewers at all. Just sayin.....

Hey, I have an opportunity to attend tonight's game, but I've decided to stay home, and dry, and watch the game on TV. Like a moron, I woke up this morning at 5:00 AM to workout at the gym. Not surprisingly, that brilliant idea lasted long enough for me find the alarm and almost smash it to pieces.

I eventually made it to the gym at 10:00 AM (my options were Ferndale or Clarkston for crying out loud) and I've been doing Trader Joe's and doctors appointments with the folks.

Anyway, I was thinking today was a 4:00 PM game (too much beer and Schnapps last night) but so relieved that the game is on at 8:00 PM. I'm thinking of that I will watch the game over at my brother Steve's place. The only problem, not that I'm overly superstitious mind you, is the home team always loses when I watch the game over at his place...doesn't matter if it's the Lions, Tigers, Wings, Wolverines, etc. I'm sorry, but tonight is huge(winner of Game 5 will most likely win the ALCS) and I'm not about to jeopardize our chance of winning this evening.

Okay, perhaps I am superstitious...but I have other siblings. :D Anyway, I picked up some pumpkin lager for tonight's big game. First, it must stop raining.

Go Tigers! Need more runs!!

Steve sounds like a great guy. You should watch the game at his place... ;)

It's still lightly raining here 30-miles to the NW of downtown. The weather forecast says the rains will stop early this evening so it sounds like the game will be played. However, it really needs to stop by 5:00 PM if they hope to get in batting practice and have the field ready to play by 8:00 PM. The clouds are rolling-in from the SW and the local Doppler looks as though it's starting to clear south of the city. Jimbo, it's not raining in the Toledo area is it?

Anyway, it's going to be cold and damp this evening...not good weather for hitters.

RED SOX (2-2)
Jacoby Ellsbury CF
Shane Victorino RF
Dustin Pedroia 2B
David Ortiz DH
Mike Napoli 1B
Jonny Gomes LF
Stephen Drew SS
Xander Bogaerts 3B
David Ross C
Pitching: LHP Jon Lester (15-8, 3.75; 1-1, 1.93 postseason).

TIGERS (2-2)
Torii Hunter RF
Miguel Cabrera 3B
Prince Fielder 1B
Victor Martinez DH
Jhonny Peralta LF
Omar Infante 2B
Alex Avila C
Austin Jackson CF
Jose Iglesias SS
Pitching: RHP Anibal Sanchez (14-8, 2.57; 1-1, 4.35 postseason).

Drew still in the lineup, X replacing Middlebrooks, and Ross in for Salty...

Game Notes...

...and odds & sods.

- Jack Morris will toss-out the opening pitch
- Red Sox had more hits against Fister last night than their combined total in Games 1-3 against Sanchez, Scherzer and Verlander
- Prince Fielder is hitting below the Medoza line....for 25M we should be getting more than .193
- Collectively the Sox and Tigers bats have been quiet in the postseason; certainly not like the top two hitting teams in baseball
- Some would say the Sox are in control of this series with 2 of the next 3 being played at Fenway
- Some would say the Sox are fortunately to still be playing

Regardless, it should be another great game tonight.

(Note: please feel free to append the game notes)

More game notes...

- Ortiz is only 1 for 15 batting in the ALCS even with the Grand Salami
- Sox are batting .186 and have struck-out 53 times in four games (38% of plate appearances)
- Jackson entered last night's game hitting just .091 in the playoffs before going 2 for 2 with two walks
- Boston is playing Bogaerts at 3B and sitting Middlebrooks (good move?)

Even more game notes...

- The winner of Game 5 when the series is tied 2-2 goes on to win the series in 37 of 54 occasions or nearly 70% of the time.
- Teams winning Game 5 on the road when the series is tied 2-2 went on to win 20 of 24 times or near 84%.

Offhand, I would say tonight is a must win for the Tigers. Conversely, while the pressure would appear to be on the Tigers, the stats don't say anything about having to face Scherzer and Verlander for games six and perhaps seven.

too bad it's all settled because I heard of all your siblings Steve likes you best and you should have gone there!:D

It was raining for awhile, then it quit, then started back u for about an hour, now it's stopped again, I think were in the clear down here and you should be up there shortly.

While throwing out the first pitch is a lot of fun and an honor for the Tigers to have some of thier past Stars back to do the honor ...
It's a Shame they refuse to show it on the TV, for that matter to have a game and NOT hear the National Anthem is another thing that irks me about the networks and thier TV coverage.

No time for the National Anthem or First Pitch, but there is always time for an hour or so of pre-game babble. Go figure!
