not done for the year...mid august
Twins first baseman Justin Morneau slated for neck surgery | twinsbaseball.com: News
MILWAUKEE -- It will be at least mid-August before Justin Morneau is back at first base for the Twins.

Morneau, who said he has not been able to feel the index finger on his left hand since the last week of Spring Training, will have neck surgery on Wednesday to relieve a pinched nerve causing the problem. The procedure will remove a herniated disk fragment from Morneau's neck.

J. Verlander is on AGAIN tonight.
No No hitter, but pitching very well ...
Into the 8th still throwing in the high 90's, has given up only 4 hits, and has 14 K's (career high) and counting.

Btw, Tigers 6, D-Backs 0 end of 8.

Indians lose today as well.

Have you noticed that JV has picked it up of late in the K's category ?
14 tonight, I think 12 or 13 last time out.

edit:
12 and 10 in the last 3 out of 4

14 tonight, 5 last time out, 12 and 10 the previous times out.

SPARKY

For anyone interested, that can get the FSN Detroit broadcast (possibly MLB Net, I would imagine) ...

The Tigers are RETIRING George Sparky Anderson's number today.

The proceeding will start at 12:45, just before the game at 1 pm.

The Tigers are asking that anyone going to the game to PLEASE be in your seats before then.

Fittingly, the D-Backs are in town with former Tigers Greats Kirk Gibson and Alan Trammel in the D-Backs dugout.

Glad to hear they'll be retiring Sparky's number this afternoon. Unfortunately, I don't get FSN Detroit and I don't see the game on the MLB Network. Anyway, it sure would be nice to get Gibson and Trammel in the Tigers dugout someday.

Yes nice to see they are finally going to do this. Please excuse me for a minute as this should have been done long ago. But regardless nice to see mr illitch finally let go of past anger and good to see that his kids will be there today

Though should have been done when he was alive...ok back to topic I promise go tigers!!

ugh! Twins get swept in Milwaukee

side note...you know you're slow footed when you get pinch run for by a PITCHER!
Thome got PR for in the 7th by Duensing

For those that are having baseball withdrawls...
