2011 AL Central Thread

So the fact that they have No Mauer and a .228 hitting Morneau and a pitching staff that was overhauled in the off season has nothing to do with it ?

Mauer...maybe
Morneau...probably but he's only one person. We did good last year when he was injured
Pitching staff...bingo. Its not that good this year

IIRC, when I was looking at the half way point, looking for whose playing 1B for the ASG, Morneau and Cabrera were both hitting about .328, I was surprised to see that, but it was, what it was ... or was that the year before, I don't remember when the concussion happened with him.

IF, Mauer was playing up to his usual, they would be playing MUCH better and have a much better record ... one person CAN make a HUGE difference.
Not saying he's the WHOLE difference, but a BIG one.

IF the Tigers had to play without Cabrera, they would be right next to you, holding the door.

The last 2 years Morneau's been out the 2nd half of the season

last year was the concussion in Toronto
year before was his back (and other injuries)

Tiger bats have gone silent tonight.
Scherzer went 7, gave up 1 run, was tied 1-1, now the pen has let in 2 more runs, Tigers trail 3-1 in the 8th.

1 pitcher gave up 14 runs in 2 innings.....

Gotta wonder if the manager and pitching coach went to the clubhouse and didn't come back .... to leave him out there like that, had to be humiliating.

So the kid gives up 10 in the 4th, and they send him out to give up 4 more the next inning. His reward? A bus ticket out of KC. Really classy Royals! Must have pissed the manager off some point before the game.

Twins broke their skid last night. Liriano pitched well.

Nice hour about Harmon prior, especially Dick Bremer's goodbye right before game time.

Been away for a couple days. A few updates: Newsflash: The Indians are slaughtering the competition!!!

AL Central Lead back up to 5 games!! Go Tribe!!!!!!

There was once a pitcher with this line:

15 runs, 15 hits, 9 walks. They left him out there for all of that.

He turned into Bob Feller, and the rest is history...

Your lead grew, partly because the Tigers have been rained out twice this week already.

For those that are having baseball withdrawls...
