Fine for a punch Duane Brown threw rescinded after appeal, something I know some around here didn't think was possible, as if all fines and appeals were heard by one man, which they are not.

I wonder if Peyton will do the "nice" thing and rework his contract to be more friendly to the team, after all he made what 26M was it for doing nothing this year ....

Doubtful, but a thought.

Word is Manning is VERY pissed at the Polian's firings. At this point, I doubt he does any favors.

But Lovie remains.

Which is strange, I havent read about their GM firing, but they're basically saying 'looking for a GM that wants Lovie as their coach'. At least in Indy they outright said that the new GM when hired will decide on the direction they go with HC and have not fired Caldwell.

Could be because they'll be paying Lovie for the next 2 years either way since they extended his contract through 2013. Or maybe their new GM could take them another direction and fire him anyways. I think it's probably unlikely they'll have anyone better than Lovie Smith to pick from by the time their front office is in order though, so makes some sense I guess.

Another awkward GM situation, this time in Oakland, where for a 2nd day Hue Jackson fairly insistent on being involved in the GM search for the Raiders.

Hue Jackson wants to be involved in G.M. search | ProFootballTalk

“I would hope that as the head coach of this football team I would hope that the organization understands that I have a pretty good idea of where we need to go. Because if not, then I shouldn’t be where I’m sitting,” Jackson said via the Oakland Tribune.

Pressed on the subject, Jackson made it clear he didn’t actually know if he would be in the hiring of the team’s next G.M.

“I don’t know that. I mean, [owner Mark Davis] will let me know that as we move forward,” Jackson said.
It’s a tricky situation. It’s my opinion that finding the right general manager is a far more important hire than finding the right head coach. The G.M. needs the flexibility to set the course for all aspects of the franchise.

I agree, this is like an episode of "As the Colts turn"

With all this going on, it wouldn't surprise me that Peyton gets sent somewhere else.

If the Colts have anything to say about it, and they should, he'll be sent to an NFC team.

martz resigns from bears and both norv turner and gm a.j. smith to return. that one amazes me!!! neither deserved another chance yet again. good thing is that it gives me somewhat a chance for fisher to consider the fins HC job.

Now that AL is gone, there's a power vacuum and Hue wants in, eh??

Isn't that above his pay grade?

The way Hue sees it I think, is that he's already in. He was heavily involved in things like the Carson Palmer trade and now wants a say about who his boss will be.

Poor Chargers fans.

steeler safety Ryan Clark will be out for this weekend's game against the broncos. still think steelers win this one.

Good grief! What kind of pictures does Norv Turner have??

so true! i don't know why norv turner keeps getting HC jobs. he stinks at it. he's barely a decent OC.

Him and Marty Schotenhimer(sp?), neither could do well but they both keep getting HC jobs.

actually imo marty did a better job with the chargers. but his time has past. norv was never any good. he's still riding on the fact that he has one ring as an offensive coordinator from dallas back in the early 90's. its amazing when you have rivers as your QB and you can't win such a weak division yet you still get ANOTHER chance. rivers is running out of time. looks like he will end up wasting another season.
