2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs

Lemme get this straight..........

The Bruins have a 3-0 lead in GAMES and then the Flyers tie it up

and now.............

The Bruins have a 3-0 lead in THIS GAME and the Flyers tie it up.

I just have to say.............WTF???

Buckle in... Here we go again!

Could an arena get any different in a 24 hour period??

Anyway, Congrats to the Philadelphia Flyers (aka the anti-Atlanta Hawks) on one of the gutsiest performances I've ever seen! :up

More on the Bruins later..................:rant:

When I credited Philly for coming back, one of the three keys I felt was Gagne.

Since he came back, it's like they pulled a Hulk Hogan and Hulked Up.

If you had told me before the playoffs that the Eastern Conference Finals would be what it is, I would not have believed it for a second.

This is as improbable as a winning lottery ticket.

I'll give my full-scale Conference Final previews tomorrow.

Talk about symmetry:

The Flyers win game and the series 4-3 after trailing in the game and the series 3-0!!

As for the Bruins: for the third straight year they lose a game 7..............including second straight year AT HOME..

AND they lose another game 7 on a too many men on the ice PP (ghosts of 1979).

All of the above- INEXCUSABLE!!!

I did not see the penalty, was it legit, was the player penalized actually in the play and had touched the puck ?

A turning point of this game- I'm going with the Bruins clanging the post minutes before Gagne's goal.

When one realizes opportunity, one must seize the moment- and that is what Philly did.

Usually they won't call it if he's not directly involved in the play.
Was the play (puck) coming towards the bench ?
It doesn't have to be. The rule is pretty broad about what qualifies as 'too many men on the ice'. Here's just part of it:

At the discretion of the on-ice officials, should a substituting player come onto the ice before his teammate is within the five foot (5’) limit of the players’ bench (and therefore clearly causing his team to have too many players on the ice), then a bench minor penalty may be assessed.

If you saw the play, there were clearly 6 skaters on with no one making an attempt to get off. Even the NESN announcers and Milan Lucic agreed:

"I saw two centermen out there and I said, 'What's going on,'" Lucic said. "I knew there was a miscommunication out there and we got caught.

"At that point of the game, you can't be taking a penalty like that. They got a late goal, it wasn't mean to be for us, and you've got to live with it."
