2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs

It's tough seeing most of the Bruins limited offense out with injuries.

No, didn't you hear?

The Bruins are "choking"!!!!

Seriously, we have a regular poster here that can determine that from behind his keyboard. It's funny, I actually watched the game and saw the Bruins play their arses off for the last two plus periods!.

It pisses me off to no end when that "C" word is thrown around so loosely (not just my teams either).

I'm rooting hard for the B's, Bill. Cannot stand the orange crud.

Can you imagine, the Rangers were an OT shootout in the last regular season game away from keeping the Flyers out of the playoffs. And you can be sure, had the Rangers made the playoffs, they would have rolled over like a submissive dog as soon as the going got tough.

Montreal would have played New Jersey, and even tho his best days are long behind him, Fatso still seems to play well against his home town team...so les Habs could have been out too.

Funny how things work.

The whole Eastern Conference has been upside down! Who would have thought that the last three teams standing would be the #6, 7 and 8 seeds?

If Philly wins tomorrow night, that would mean out of a possible six EC series, the only team with home ice that advanced was Pittsburgh over Ottawa (and that was a 4 over a 5).

This has got to be the first time 6/7 seeds are playing for home ice advantage in the conference finals....

Amazingly, it happened just four years ago.

8 seed Edmonton beat 5 seed San Jose to advance to the conference finals, to play 6 seed Anaheim. Anaheim won home ice advantage in the conference finals by beating 7 seed Colorado in the second round!!!

Oh well the Pens had a good few years, here's to next year opening up a new arena.

Lets go Sharks.

I don't think their 'few good years' are over by any means. Their stars are young, they will reload and be back strong next year.

In their Eastern Conference Semifinal, the Philadelphia Flyers have done what no team in hockey has done since 1975- come back from a 3-0 deficit to tie the series and force it to a seventh game.

It's amazing how the Flyers have been able to do this when you consider the injuries they have dealt with- Gagne (first 3 games), Jeff Carter, Brian Boucher, Ian Laparriere. (That being said, the Bruins have also overcome a ton of injuries themselves)

How have they been able to do this?

Couple of reasons:

1. Gagne- he came back in game 4 to score the OT goal, then had two goals in game 5. A classic example of a player's return sparking a team (Savard did the same for the B's in game 1)

2. Goaltending- When Boucher went down in game 5, I didn't think Leighton would be able to continue the comeback. Color me impressed- he did a lot better than I initially thought.

3. Daniel Briere- He's been their offensive sparkplug at times through the series.

Both of these teams have fought tooth-and-nail at times in a series that has been well-played.

Game 7 on Friday will be fascinating to watch.

Unlike the Cadaverliers and LeBron lol. The Pens will be fine. Getting to the finals three years in a row is extremely rare post expansion.
