2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs

My point is that they were under a lot of pressure to play well against the Wings, and they did so.

For all the talk about referees and penalties on this series, I haven't heard much posts about what the Sharks did right.

I'm giving San Jose credit for what they did- their big guns came up big.

Congrats to the Sharks on advancing, while of course I want the wings to advance, no shame in this season a few minor moves and lindstrom decsion await. Now on to focus on the Tigers and soon Pro and College football!!

I've said all along that the Sharks were much faster, won the face offs and most of that lead DIRECTLY to them winning the series.

They pressured the Wings with play in thier offensive end most of the series.
The Wings played chase and were penalized plenty for being a step slow.

I have said all this thru out these threads.

Nabokov and Howard both played GREAT thru most of the series.
Both gave up the occasional bad/soft goal that you chastised at the time.

The Wings played like their skates were made of concrete, big difference from game 4. They just didn't apply the necessary effort last night. Look for a goaltender change for next season. I don't see Howard being the goalie that will take us to another Stanley Cup. I don't care if he is a rookie or not, he is about 26-27 yrs. old, and I don't see him getting much better. Besides we don't have the benefit of growing with him, if that was the case. The time is now, not down the road a season or two.

I disagree, I think Howard will be here for quite awhile, unless they can get a stud in place of him.

Sure he's 26 but he's never been given a chance in the NHL because they always try to get a supposive better guy off the heap (Hasek, Vernon).

The last time Hasek was here was a huge mistake.
They should have had Howard up here several years ago, but they wanted the high priced guy instead.

Ok so I have to take this jab at all the Detroit fan's as it's in good ole rivalry fun. How does it feel to know that Chicago lasted longer in the playoffs than detroit did? :D GO HAWKS! Chicago is the new Hockeytown!

Well seeing that Detroit was out of the playoff hunt for MOST of the season and Chicago was right in the battle for top spots.
I'm fine with it.

Just hope you keep going .....
You have Hossa, remember ?

Speaking of ex-Wings, one guy who I think Detroit missed was Mikael Samuellson.

He camed up with some big goals in their playoff runs the last two years, and has really lit it up for the Canucks this year.

He was an unsung hero- the type of guy whose presence was missed against the Sharks.

How does it know you guys are stuck with Hossa for like 10 years.

Good luck with him, he's a magician. Disappears in the playoffs every year!

I always liked him too.

Both the Bruins and Penguins look to advance to the ECF tonight.

I'll be watching the B's, but monitoring the Pens-Habs game closely!

Bad break (no pun intended) for the Flyers, as they lose Boucher with what appears to be a knee injury...........

Still 1-0 Flyers
