2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs

Sharks fan are you now?

We'll see how the sharks do when they go up against the Golden Boy and see how they play when the rink is tilted against them.

Sharks play a game very much like the Wings do, they have the Wings play book, the Wings former assistant coach.

Didn't Babcock use to coach SJ ?

There are a lot of similarities.

Then .......

There's the little bit about Hossa not winning the Cup (only way I'll root for Chicago is if they would go all the way and play the Pens.)

btw, SJ WAS the top seed in the conference, Wings were 8-9th most of the year.
Did I expect them to win this series, hell no.

Congrats DD and San Jose !

Now go kick Chicago or Vancouver's ass !

Thank you! Lets hope YVR beats ORD tomorrow so we can rest and they can keep beating the poop out of each other!

Frankly I'm surprised at Nabby and Detroit, the book on Nabby is 18 shots or less per game results in 4-6 goals per game.

You guys shot too much!

Babcock used to coach Anaheim, Hossa is a curse like Teemu Selane, Teemu refuses to resign with Sharks because he "Wants to win a cup". The next season Sharks eliminate Avs and Selane. Hossa is the same curse, from Pit to DTW and ORD!

Wings were very streaky shot wise..... they had 6 in the first period.

Are you in love with this person?

I'm a fan of hers.

BTW, about that whole thing- I happened to connect the dots, and it just so happened that the Red Wings won their 4 Cups in years she was not on TV, and none of them when she is on.

It's not personal, it's just one of those freakish coincidences that happens to be true.

Couple thoughts on the game:

1. Say what you will about penalties, but Detroit had multiple PP chances and DID NOT CONVERT.

2. Only goal tonight was scored by a defenseman (Rafalski)- in this series- I hate to say this, but Datsyuk and Zetterberg were disappointments (Datsyuk had just 1 goal- Zetterberg had no goals, plus missing a HUGE penalty shot), Franzen had more penalties than points tonight, and Fillipula didn't do anything. Franzen, Rafalski, and Lidstrom did play well in the series, and Howard was better the last two games.

3. Regardless, I thought this would be a tough series for Detroit. Unlike the Coyotes, San Jose has dangerous offensive talent.

4. The much-maligned Thornton came up BIG in this series. Winner in game 2, big goal in game 3 plus setting up the winner, and got the Sharks back in game 5 after falling behind.

Oh ya, I forgot .....

Do you do baseball ?

Not since the Reds were screwed in 1981 as the team with the best overall record in the league and they were shut out of the playoffs! I also haven't bought Toshiba since they screwed the USA by selling quiet submarine propeller technology to the Soviets in 1987!

What it came down to was the Sharks were much faster than the Wings this time around.... the guys you mentioned that didn't score find it hard to score when they don't have the puck.

Sharks played Wings possession hockey and beat them at thier own game.

Jimbo's prediction from Thursday, May 6th 2010, about the final score on Saturday night May 8th 2010!

Jimbo is also Psychotic!

Hmmmm, I did say that didn't I :D

"Saturday will be a 2-1 game ..... ugh."

If you notice, I even had the winner right !!!!

Unfortunately the teams that beat the Wings normally don't go much farther.

Then again, there is the Hossa effect.

So, after not coming up huge against the Avs, San Jose's vaunted trio did mucho damage this series:

Thornton- a point in every game, winner in game 2, delivered in game 3, tied up game 5
Marleau- Two game-winning goals
Heatley- 5 assists
