2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs

Mickey Redmond is a VERY Good announcer and is not afraid to tell it like it is.

To each his own I suppse. I'm not a big fan of Redmond, but I can understand why Red Wing fans like him, he sees everything through Detroit colored glasses.

Case in point...

In game three, there is four-something minutes left in a tie game, and Redmond says 'you have to think the Wings are due a power play here at some point'. Then not long after, when the Wings were called for a penalty, he says 'you have to be kidding me, you're calling a penalty with 2:55 left in the game?'

OK so it's only OK to call penalties on the other team late in the game, but not the Wings? Jeesh. Come back to us from the 1980's, Mickey, when the only time penalties were called late in the game or in OT was when there was an autopsy involved.

Actually it was Redmond's boy Brendan Shanahan who changed the entire mindset of the league regarding this during the lockout, and penalties have been called late and in OT ever since.

Ironically one of the better analysts in the game, Drew Remenda, is right next door in the Sharks announcer booth. I do like Detoit's play by play guy, he's very good.

Give Micky a break, he is OUR color guy. Just the same, he is quick to point out when the Wings are playing with their heads up their asses. I find him highly entertaining, much more so than another broadcaster that died just recently.

I agree, Mickey Redmond is excellent. He pretty much doesn't pull any punched and tells it the way he sees it. He certainly puts in Red Wing twist on matter, but then again he is playing to a Red Wing audience.

So now all four series have four games in the books. San Jose, Chicago and Boston have 3-1 leads and Montreal/Pittsburgh are tied at 2 games apiece.

The scene now shifts back to the four venues where each series started (SJ, Chicago, Boston and Pitt).

Flyers-Bruins won't play again until Monday night at the Garden (7:00pm ET).

I'm assuming this is because the Cavs-Celtics play a late afternoon game there Sunday.
