2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs

Next game in San Jose on the weekend , Saturday ..... 3 oclock so we can all see it ?

NNNOOOOOOO.

Game 5 is to start almost Sunday morning, it starts at 10:30 PM. :no

Now THAT'S scheduling.

Way to go NHL ....  :down :no

I honestly thought before the game that the Sharks had a very good chance to win- I did not anticipate that Franzen would activate Beast Mode tonight.

They have been wanting to get Franzen going all playoffs, he's a very streaky goal scorer, he could carry them to the next round, he's that good.

I'm not saying he will, but .....

It's a LONG ways back.

Who? what? huh?

The Shannen/Red Wings thing I mentioned is simple- the Detroit Red Wings have NEVER won a Stanley Cup in any years that Shannen Doherty is on television.

1986-87 and 1987-88- Shannen was on the TV series 'Our House.' In those years, the Red Wings' lost back-to-back Conference Finals to the dynastic Gretzky-era Oilers.

1990-91 to 1993-94- Shannen was on the original 'Beverly Hills 90210.' In that four year stretch, Detroit never got past the second round, blew a 2-0 series lead to Toronto in 1993, blew a 3-1 lead against St. Louis in 1991, and lost a Game 7 at home to the #8 seed Sharks.

The following year, Shannen left '90210' and Detroit made their first Stanley Cup Final appearance since 1966. In 1997 and 1998, they won their back-to-back Cups.

Then, Shannen was on Charmed from 1998-99 to 2000-01. In those three years, the Wings did not make it past round 2, twice blowing a 2-0 series lead (1999 against Colorado, 2001 against Los Angeles).

Then, she left 'Charmed,' and the Red Wings won the Cup in 2001-02.

But she then came back to host 'Scare Tactics' in 2002-03 and 2003-04- Detroit was swept by the Ducks in 2003, and lost to Calgary in 2004.

In 2006-07, she hosted 'Breaking Up with Shannen Doherty' on the Oxygen Network- Detroit lost to the Anaheim Ducks in the Western Conference Finals.

2007-08- Shannen was not on TV, and the Wings won the Stanley Cup.

2008-09- Shannen was on the new '90210' on the CW Network. Detroit lost the Stanley Cup Finals to the Penguins in game 7- blowing 2-0 and 3-2 leads, making them the first team to lose a Stanley Cup Final Game 7 at home and blow a 2-0 lead since 1971, as well as the first team to lose a home game 7 in the championship series for any pro sport since 1979.

This year, Shannen was on 'Dancing With The Stars.' The Red Wings are trying to climb out of a 3-0 hole.

So, to recap:

In years when Shannen is not on TV- 5-1 in the West Finals, 4 Stanley Cups

in years whenever Shannen is on TV- 1-3 in the West Finals, no Stanley Cups.

Unless the Red Wings pull off the miracle, this strange but true coincidence will continue.

Wait till Franzen goes out to see "Iron Man" Saturday afternoon in SJ before the game Sat night.

Maybe we'll see Johan "Iron Man " Franzen on Saturday.

Now that you brought that up, I do remember that earlier.

Can you imagine what it would have been like had tonight's game been in SJ ?

Those guys might have thrown their foam hats out on the ice at us ;)

Detroit has nothing to lose, this next game could be played on Mars, they have to keep playing like this and don't let up.

Ever again.

People of Detroit know what it's like to be winning by 5 goals and not want to embarrass the other team. Because 5 was just so easy, 7 or 8 could be too.

I think a lot of Detroit weakness's (sp?), have been exposed and so far San jose has capitalized on them. Let's see if this momentum carries over and how long, before San jose retakes the balance and puts us away.

That's definitely what SJ coach is going to be preaching, just go out there in the next game and play like they are capable of and they should win it at home.

SJ is faster than the Wings, though you wouldn't know it watching tonight.

I think a HUGE key on Saturday is if the Wings can win the faceoff's consistantly.
That in itself could dictate the game, gaining possession is HUGE Offensively as well as Defensively.

I agree completely with you on this one, I really hope to recapture Detroit's faceoff domination of previous years.
