2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs

Bruins win 4-1 and go for the sweep Friday night in Philly!

Hard to believe this team is one win away from going to the ECF after where they were a month ago!

Wings were up 3-1 in the third, tip of the cap to the Sharks.

Should have been 4-1, but like I said the Wings were required to win by 2, Zetterberg's goal should have counted, you are allowed to deflect the puck with your skate.
He deflected the puck, not kick it.

Too bad Zetterberg didn't get it in on that penalty shot - golden opportunity there. Helluva stick save by Howard early in the 1st.

Something to add to my sports bucket list: see a playoff game at the Joe. :)
Better hurry, I don't expect the Joe to be around much longer. :)

Zetterberg had a legit point about the disallowed goal- nevertheless, he should have made that penalty shot. When he missed it, I had a feeling that could be a crucial moment.

Absolutely if was a very big moment, that would have been a three goal lead I think.
I goal missed and one taken away.

Now I see where Wing fans get it from. Mickey Redmond and his partner whine about the referees all night! Redmond is not quite in Jack Edwards territory, but he's close.

On the disallowed goal Zetterberg saw the puck coming, turned his left skate and kicked the puck, he then tried to kick it again with his right but the puck was too far from him.

The Red Wings have benefited from calls for years because they were quick and fast skaters on turnovers that led to penalties. This year they are the team chasing the guys that are quick and fast skaters!

From the 70 different angles they showed, NONE of them showed him actually kicking the puck.

They showed the puck being deflected with the skate, which is entirely legal.

You have looked at it as kicking at it when actually he was still moving, thus your thinking he kicked it in.

Doesn't matter anymore anyways, this one is over.

Sharks are faster and apply steady pressure.
Wings applied plenty of pressure the other night as well, it was the amount of pressure that lead to the game winning goal.

Natural Hat Trick

Johan Franzen has a Natural Hat Trick in the first period.

Natural being consecutive goals also in the same period.

Franzen has 3 goals and an assist, with little more than 8 minutes left in the 1st period.

Wings 4
Sharks 0

And the Wings get a bounce that goes into the net.

Can't buy a bounce the last two games, now everything is going thier way, in the first period anyways.

Wings need to NOT get complacent with the rest of the game.

Its only one game, but the wings will look back on this series and say we should have had game three. Thats how it goes in sports I guess

I noticed very early in the first period that it appeared that the Wings were winning the Defensive zone face offs and that makes a HUGE difference.
