2010 NBA Playoffs

The Celtics in the playoffs (save for one game) look nothing like the team that lost at home to the Nets and were blown out by the Spurs.

If anything, it feels like a flashback to two years ago.

That's the thing, if anything they look better NOW than they did at any time during the '08 Playoffs................save maybe the great comeback game in the Finals and the clincher against the Lakers...............

WOW Watta collapse for the Cavs .. Congrats to the Boston Celtics for a great series !!

The Reports of the Demise of the Boston Celtics have been greatly exaggerated

While much is going to be made for the days and weeks to come about the Cavs falling short of their title goals and what's going to LeBron from here on out, I'm going to take a moment here to talk about the team that won the game and series- the Boston Celtics.

At the start of the playoffs, most people wrote off the C's chances of achieving what they did in 2008- a title.

There were reasons to think so: Bill pointed out their home court struggles (24-17 this year after back-to-back years of 35-6), most of their big guns getting older, a occasional bad games (losing at home to the Nets, blown out by the Spurs).

I ask this to Bill: how exactly did the Celtics go from being "not-so-mighty-at-times" during the regular season" to finding a Hot Tub Time Machine and going back to 2008?

IMHO, here's why Boston has suddenly become the team they were from Opening Night to Christmas Day:

1. Garnett. He missed the postseason last year (and STILL almost made the conference finals). This year, he's looked sharp at times. He's looked more and more like the guy he was when they traded for him.

2. Allen- Good thing the C's didn't deal him at the trade deadline.

3. Rondo- The flashes of brilliance he showed at times in last year's playoffs have proven to be no fluke.

This is a team that many thought wouldn't get by Miami, let alone the Cavs- one whose championship window was believed to have been slammed shut.

If anything, that window may be more wide open than ever.

Congrats to the Celtics for doing something I did not think they would pull off.

Came down to TEAM DEFENSE. Simple as that. ONE team played it better than the other. Cleveland's team defense COMPLETELY disappeared after their blown out win. IF the Celtics do not throw away the ball and hit ATLEAST 70% of their free throws....Celts win going away.

Lebron left it on the floor. He gave give best, but tried a little too much sometimes. I feel bad for HIM and the Cleveland fans.

Sorry Shaq but your infamous quote is not valid no mo williams.
Code:
"My motto is very simple: Win a ring for the king," Cavaliers center Shaquille O'Neal said.

And once again, as I stated before....regular season almost means nothing when you have a good team and KNOW you will make the playoffs. Boston cruised during the regular season and avoided major injuries....they LET Rondo develope into the team leader he has become.

My early Conference Final predictions:

Magic in 7- Like last year's series, it can go the distance. Honestly, it could go either way, but until dethroned, the Magic are the Beasts of the East. That being said, it WILL be an epic struggle. No offense, Bill- I want to pick the Celtics, but to me, the Magic have the look of a team too hot to handle.

Suns in 6- I'm calling upset. Lakers don't have a bench, Phoenix had their way with the Spurs big men, and the Suns have the depth. That being said, if Phoenix is going to win, they MUST win one game at least in STAPLES.

The Phoenix suns will not beat the world champion LA Lakers. You can never the deny the heart of a champion. Lakers in 5.

ESPN is disgusting!!

They keep showing an empty chair in the press room and saying "we're waiting to hear from LeBron"...........

The Spurs big men are a lot older than the Lakers big men.
