2010-11 NFL Season

Just so the 2011 "Dallas" Super Bowl will not be without a Texas team,I predict the Houston Texans will represent the AFC. Why not? This season has been so screwy, anything can happen.

Haven't heard from HD on here in a week. Very surprised since his Browns beat the reigning SB champs in the Superdome!

Sorry buddy. My new girlfriend had me tied up lately. ;)

I'm catching up now. Helluva win last week, huh? Sean Peyton got Sean Peyton'd! Who ever knew Mangini had so many trick plays up his sleeve! That game was awesome!

The Orange & Brown Report

A few thoughts on the week of my Cleveland Browns bye week...

1. Although their record (2-5) might not indicate it, the Browns are a much improved team from last year. In 7 games, the Browns have had the lead in 5 games heading into halftime. In our 5 losses, 3 were lost by 7 points or less. At least we're competitive this year. I like the progress!

2. Although our defense seems improved from last year, there's still a few holes needed to be addressed. Primarily in our secondary. Another CB and Safety are in much need.

3. As for our offense, the run game and Peyton Hillis have been exceptional. There's no stopping the battering ram Hillis late in the game. A power run game is a necessity in wearing out an opposing defense and closing out games. We have that. I still can't understand why Denver would give this stud away so easily?!

4. A glaring weakness on offense is the inexperience at QB and our horrid WR corp. Robiskie and Massaquoi don't seem to be getting open. I do like the potential and moxy that Colt McCoy has shown under center the last few games though. I hope we let him play in order to determine whether or not he's our future franchise QB. If not, I'm sure we'll be in a decent spot to select Mallet or Locker in next year's draft.

5. Josh Cribbs isn't nearly the factor he was on Special Teams as he was in years past.

6. The optimist in me has the Browns winning 5 of the remaining 9 games, finishing 7-9. I put the over/under at 5 games this year, so winning 7 would be above expectations...

vs. NE- L (in a VERY close battle. Give Mangini 2 weeks to prepare for his mentor and it'll be a competitive one.)
vs. NYJ- L The battle of the brothers! Rex vs. Rob. Should be a good one!
@ JAC- W (they stink. I'm sorry!)
vs. CAR- W (they stink too! Will John Fox survive until week 12?)
@ MIA- L (Miami's a solid team, although it's possible we surprise them.)
@ BUF- W (we own Buffalo as of recent)
@ CIN- W (I told you there was no way Cincy could be good two years in a row)
vs. BAL- L (Could go either way.)
vs. PIT- W (As of recent, we've been playing our two top rivals Pit/Bal well. I say we squeak out at least 1 win in 4 games between the two. What better way to close out the season than by beating Pitt?)

Two weeks from tomorrow, we get NFL football back on Thursday night! I can't wait, and this year's NFLN games look better than they have in the past! :)

Nov. 11- Baltimore at Atlanta
Nov. 18- Chicago at Miami
Nov. 25- Cincinnati at NY Jets (Thanksgiving night)
Dec. 2- Houston at Philadelphia
Dec. 9- Indianapolis at Tennessee
Dec. 16- San Francisco at San Diego
Dec. 23- Carolina at Pittsburgh
Dec. 25- Dallas at Arizona (Sat./Christmas night)

I thought you were married.

Week 10 is the start of flexible scheduling for the SNF games too. Excited to see some more prime time Chiefs this year, maybe. Week 14 could be on SNF if SD turns it around as they KC goes to San Diego (other good games: NYG @ MIN, PHI @ DAL, NE @ CHI, but depends on which games get 'protected' by broadcast networks and if all of those teams are good/have rebounded). With divisions possibly on the line TEN @ KC could be a big one too week 16.

Don't expect another miracle finish by SD to win the division this year. The Chiefs are in control, and may win the division in a cakewalk. But they aren't a "marquee" team, so don't expect a Sunday night game.

My two sons have tickets for the Nov. 22 Monday night game in SD vs the Broncos (one of them lives in SD, the other in Denver). That game may decide who gets last place in the AFC West. Who woulda thunk it?

A win is a win, but when you play Pitt, it may not mean anything in the scheme of things, may be an easy win for the Browns if the division is locked up.
However, if Balt. is still close they will be playing the regulars and it may not be an easy win for them.
