2010-11 NBA Basketball Season

LOL and right on cue Evan Turner goes 9-12 from the floor last night, 1-1 from three, and drops 23 points. Apparently Turner didn't get the memo that you're not allowed to improve WHILE you're in the NBA.

Just pointing out that Turner had a good game right after you dissed him. No more no less. But beyond that the idea that he came out too early, and because of that he can never improve is just silly.

Moving on...

Apparently the KG got hurt last night, hopefully it is not something that will keep him out for a long time. According to ESPN:

Almost exactly one year ago, during the Boston Celtics' second game after Christmas, forward Kevin Garnett got kicked in his right leg during a tilt with the Golden State Warriors, suffering a hyperextension near his surgically repaired knee. The injury sidelined him for 10 games, but combined with other maladies the Celtics were battling at the time, it forced Boston to begin employing what came to be dubbed "strategic rest" while playing .500 ball over the final 54 games of the 2009-10 season.

WHERE did you pull that I said he could "never improve" ? Just answer that.

Yeah, 'moving on' LOL.

Anyway...actually moving on, let's get to the real news...bad luck for the Celtics, and the Lakers actually won last night!!!

Garlic fries all around!

So no love for discussing the Lakers' current winning streak of one? Actual basketball talk? Buehler? Anyone? Buehler?

Hello...Hello...Hello...Hello...is there an echo in here?

Bring on the UConn women!!! The garlic fries are on me! :D

He made me look stupid, that's for sure.

It's not about last night...the point is that there is nothing conclusive that says Turner staying in school another year would make him a better NBA player. Chances are he can learn more playing against the best competition in the world than he can by dominating college one more year.

It's just silly to say with any authority that Turner made a bad decision coming out when he did. He was the second overall pick. And that's not even mentioning his contract.

I knew very little of Evan Turner, so I looked him up and see that he was the #2 overall pick this year and that he signed a four year, $21 million contract contract, with the first two years guaranteed for over $9 million. He also signed a lucrative endorsement deal with a gigantic Chinese sporting goods manufacturer which has laid low in the US up to now, but is counting on Turner to help it challenge Nike and others.

So Turner is now set for life, whereas he could have been derailed by a career ending injury if he played one more year of college ball, and he is actually increasing his career earnings by more like $20 million because he will now likely have one more year of "max" salary than he would have otherwise. I think he would have been crazy to spend one more year in college.

Celts project to 70 wins, Spurs to 73 wins. Mavs to 67.

Not any more. Celts and Mavs now project to 63.5 wins each, Spurs to 72. What happens to Spurs if Duncan gets injured? They don't have four capable centers, like the Celtics do.

Fans often talk of teams making sure that they get "healthy for the playoffs", but there is no way to do that. Injuries happen when they happen and heal when they heal. There isn't any known strategy for frontloading them.

The NBA champion needs alot of skilled players, cohesiveness and more than ANYTHING......luck! A lucky break in injuries, a lucky break here and there in calls and a lucky break in the schedule.

Spurs 115, Knicks 128

Statement game for Knicks. They believe they have arrived.

Three of the Knicks last four wins have come against teams with winning records: Oklahoma City, Chicago, and now San Antonio.
