2009 NBA Playoffs

Not only did Boston blow out the Bulls, but the Mavericks are up by over 30 points on the Spurs with 5 minutes left in the fourth quarter.

Hard to believe- the Spurs looked so good on Monday, but they are surprisingly getitng routed tonight.

Again.....Don't make a big issue of this because the BULLS and the Spurs can come right back and win the next one by 25......like the HEAT did.

Spurs maybe, but not the Bulls. They don't have enough fire power. Gordon is a streaky player and Rose as good as he is, is still a rookie. The Bulls have nothing to be ashamed of though. They're just young and if the Celtics continue to play the type of hard pressing defense they did last night, the Bulls will be done in 2 more games.

Uh oh. Someone woke a sleeping giant. The C's finally played up to their potential tonight.

PS, I hope Rojon Rondo is ok. They had to carry him off the court. Any news out of Boston Bill?
I'm not Bill, but Rondo says he's OK:

"I was limping and Billy didn't want to see me limp, so he just carried me," Rondo said. "I didn't slip or nothing. I'm fine. Ankles are fine."

Rondo, who had 20 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 steals, removed his shoes late in the game.

"Maybe the tape was too tight," Rondo said. "It's just the tape job."

Rondo is helped off, but insists he's fine - The Boston Globe

Because he's a sneaky SOB and he stabbed the back of a blind owner. (Really, Gordon Gund is literally blind).

A bit of history on C-Town and Booze...

After the 2003-04 season, the Cavaliers had the option of allowing him to become a restricted free agent, or keeping him under contract for one more year at a $695,000 salary. The Cavs had reached an understanding with Boozer and his agent on a deal for approximately $39 million over 6 years, which he would sign if they let him out of his current deal.

Well, the second that sneaky SOB got "temporarily released" from his contract, he signed with the Jazz instead.

It was a gentleman's agreement. The only reason he was let out of his contract was so the Cavs could sign him to more money and a NEW longer term contract.

That back stabbing fool stabbed the team owner, franchise and city in the back. This city has never forgotten this despicable act and he's probably one of the most hated athletes in this city.

Bulletin Board Material for the Cavs

Uh oh. If the Cavs go onto face the Lakers in the Championship AND win, LA has T-Mac to thank for their loss.....

Mo Williams on Tracy McGrady:

“‘I read the quote T-Mac had in the paper,’ Cavs guard Mo Williams said in an ESPN.com article. ‘Saying the Lakers are going to win it, saying we’re good but we’re not great. That don’t do nothing but fuel us. It fuels us to get better than we are. We don’t get the respect we deserve. We know that.”
We're "good, but not great"?! Who are you T-Mac, besides an injury prone has been?! Mark this down as the first time you'll have an impact in the playoffs BEYOND the first round!  :D

The last time Cleveland and Detroit played a playoff game in the Palace was LeBron's famous 48-point outburst that, BTW.

I just got chills thinking about that game Sabres!

The show by Lebron in Game 5 of the 2007 Eastern Conference Finals was THE single greatest performance in a playoff game that I've ever seen in my life.

On that night, LeBron scored the final 25 points to will his team to an OT win. It was on that night that I feel the torch was passed in the Central Division. It was from that game forward the Cavs had the upper hand in this rivalry and division.

...and the Jazz may soon get the same treatment. Boozer and the now departed Jazz Owner Larry Miller had a similar arrangement on Boozer's opt out clause but it looks like Boozer may take the money and run out of Utah after this season.

Thoughts on the NBA Playoffs before the upcoming weekend.

1. The Celtics finally figured out how play backcourt defense, and that's the big reason they have homecourt back in it's series against the Bulls.

2. The Lakers game 3 loss to the Jazz may be proof that the Lakers still don't have a killer instinct in them.

3. Stick a Fork in the Spurs, they looked like a tired team last night and with less than a 48 hour turnaround for game 4 won't have much time to recover.

4. How bad is it in Detroit when they are selling playoff tickets to Cavs fans directly for tonights game. David Stern your league has real problems.

Cavs win and take a 3-0 series lead in what was a very interesting game.

Pistons scored the first eight points, but did not do a good job of increasing the lead (A good way to hold on to a large lead- see Rockets/Blazers Game 1)

Cavs had a not-so-great third quarter- only 9 points (No offense, HD, but 9 points in 12 minutes is very strange)

Joe Smith and the Big Z came up big

Detroit went ice-cold down the stretch, missing more shots than they made. In sports, you can get on a hot streak (see Orlando's 23 3-pointers in one game) or really cold. When the lead was still manageable for Detroit to close in on, they were unable to make those shots.

Detroit's young players, while showing flashes of brilliance, are not taking it to the #1 seed the way Atlanta did last year.

This is a classic case of winning ugly.
