2009 NBA Playoffs

Leon Powe will join Kevin Garnett on the Boston Celtics' sideline.

Already without an injured Garnett for possibly the remainder of the playoffs, the Celtics have lost backup forward Powe for the duration because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in his left knee.

This also fortifies my belief that this side of the Eastern bracket is WIDE OPEN!

Any of the quartet of Boston, Orlando, Philly or Chicago can advance to the ECF...........where they'll be a sacrificial lamb to the Cavs.

I truly believe that if Atlanta wasn't on Cleveland's side of the bracket, they would be going to the ECF.

I agree. Of all the teams you mention above, Atlanta has SCARY talent. They are not to be taken lightly. They can match up against anyone in the league.

Atlanta was never taken seriously by the media either, which really made me mad. I do not think Orlando will make the ECF either, and if they do, Cleveland will dominate. The east is just wide open right now, with the struggling Celtics and Magic.

That game got too close for comfort,

Still, Cavs get the win.

I love that when the Cavs only win by 12, the team isn't satisfied.

Up by 30 at the end of the 3rd, the starters took to the bench. Lack of focus by our reserves gave up a huge lead and made the game seem closer down the stretch.

LeBron and company had to come back in and seal the deal. The run by the Pistons was probably a good thing for this team. No lead is safe in the playoffs and this may have served as a reminder for players to never ease up with a lead until the final buzzer is sounded.

See you in Motown on Friday Pistons.

Cavs up 2-0.

I saw the interview with LeBron after the game, and he stated the usual comments. The truth is I think that they played just hard enough to win, and he knew it, but you don't come and out and say that. This is looking more and more like a sweep. How the mighty have fallen....

I don't have a problem with him saying what he did. We all saw the game. The Cavs left their guard down and let the Pistons come back. Him being honest was a breath of fresh air IMO.

And you're right about your Pistons. How did they lose their edge SO quickly? Almost overnight even.

I didn't have a problem with his comments either. I just think the real comments are made in the locker room among teammates. They probably sound more like " I can't believe they're making us actually finish this series." Or "Whew, I almost broke a sweat out there!"

The truth is that the Piston's were really done two years ago. The front court has no true center, and has aged. Chauncey would have made this more competitive, but the end result would still have been the same. We just wouldn't have had to play you guys first. We'll be back in a couple of seasons, after we retool with some of that cap money.

You better. Not to sound like a little cocky SOB, but it was more fun to beat you guys when you used to put up more of a fight. :)

I hear what you're saying. I can't even bring myself to watch this carnage. Just too painful. Similar to 1991 after the first two titles, the Bad Boys got old and it was hard to watch their demise against Chicago.

You mean you weren't holding out hope like "We have a chance at a threepeat! We own the Bulls! We can still do it!"

Did anyone catch that horrid injury to Mutombo last night?

Well, apparently it's going to cost him his career. Too bad. You never want to see a player go out like this...

"For me, basketball is over," Mutombo said.
