2009 NBA Playoffs

who ever it is bill, they're doomed!!! dooooooommmeedd!!!!

NOPED....! Why? Because Cleveland beat an old, slow team that had NO THREAT of scoring anywhere? PLEASE!

IF Miami wins today, ATLANTA will not come back. AND if you think for one second that Cleveland will have it THAT easy in the 2nd round.....you are crazy. ON PAPER, Cleveland should run through the Eastern Conference.....but games are not played on paper...are they?;)

Piston's Fans Sell-Out....

For those of you who watched the last two games at the Palace of Auburn Hills, you surely heard chants of "MVP" and crowd roars that accompanied play by the Cavaliers. But wait.... this was a road game! This was supposed to be hostel territory! What? How? Why?........

Word out of Detroit was that the Pistons ticket department sent out a mass email to Cavaliers season ticket holders to offer tickets to the away game. Also, Pistons ticket holders sold off their tickets to the rival Cavs fans like mass exodus outside the arena. (As low at $11/each).

By the end of the game, there were more Cleveland fans than Detroit fans! That's got to be discouraging to an aging Pistons team, playing on their "own court". Reports showed the Pistons to Cavs fan ratio was 60-40! The strong Cavs support was so evident by the end of the game that LeBron thanked the fans for making the 4-hour trip in his post-game interview.

I did the same....too bad we missed the 1st half of the Cavs game (although C's-Bulls was a great finish).

I thought the Pistons were going to take at least one game....guess I over-estimated them. Go Cavs!! It's going to be a long wait until the next round.

I'm confident against either the Hawks or Heat, but if I had to choose, I'd rather not see D-Wade. I still have vivid memories of what 1 superstar can do in the playoffs....

The beginning of the Cavs/Pistons game was aired on ESPN2 until the Celtics game was over.

I know....I read the scroll on ABC when I started the DVR playback at around 6pm :) Oh well....one of the risks of not watching the game live.

And suddenly, there is SOME life in Jermaine O'Neal...after the 1st game dude of 9 points - 3 robounds.....he has averaged 20 and 9 and 4 blocks the last two games. NOT to mention the sudden 3-point barrage(27 3-points in the last 2 games) shooting suddenly has made things VERY tough on the young Hawks.

LeBron makes History

In what seems like typical business as usual for LeBron and the boys as they advance to the 2nd round, not much has been said of his individual performance in this series. Is is safe to say we are getting "used to" greatness and the unworldly numbers he puts up is expected and merely gets unnoticed now?!

For those of you who didn't pick apart LeBron's stat line, let me fill you in. In this series against the Pistons, LeBron averaged 32 points, 11.3 rebounds and 7.5 assists, becoming just the third player in NBA history to average at least 30 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists in a single postseason series.

The other two? Larry Bird and Oscar Robertson.

The NBA.... "Where Amazing Happens".

What happened to Rasheed Wallace? He went downhill pretty fast. He didn't even score yesterday. He's turning into Donyell Marshall.

I was about to say the same thing. It was like he quit on the team. And where was Iverson the entire series?! I know he was out with a "back injury" (yeah right). But he couldn't even sit on the sidelines and support his team? I guess he quit on his team too.

BTW, do you know Rasheed didn't take a single free throw in the entire series?! How does this happen? I would be mad as hell if I were a Pistons fan. At least try Rasheed! What a weak way of going out after a great career in Detroit. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Detroit doesn't resign him next year.

i'm not saying they'll have it that easy,i'm saying if we get there we're not going pass the 2nd round. i'm happy we made it to the playoffs compared to last season! if we make it to the 2nd round i'll be ecstatic! :) but to think we'll beat the cavs is insane;) !sadroll.

Do I think they can? YES! Is it probable....no. Let's not crown them just yet...some have already.;) But like I have said, games are played on the court...not on paper. Let's wait to see, the Heat have to get by Atlanta 1st. That series is not over yet.

In regard to Iverson, I guess you can say it was "agreed" upon that he just go away quietly. Rasheed left the team mentally about a year ago. He wont be back as Iverson wont be back. The trade was to clear cap space, I did not like the deal, but I can see why it was done. If Billips is here, maybe the pistons take one in the series.....MAYBE two

Its pretty ironic on how they ended the Eastern Confernce run of six straight trips. They got swept like they did, to end the "Bad Boy" era. Hopefully it will not take ten years or so to get back on in the mix as it did, prior to this run. I enjoyed the run, it was a great one. Now Joe D will be put to the test to remake this team.

Players I see not back next year

A.I. (Contract Expire)
Rasheed Wallace (contract expire)
Tayshaun Price (Possible trade)

You could see in this series, as we saw all year that the veterans were done. There have been media reports that two camps had occured. The Veterans who had there chmapionship runs, and the new rookies, second year players.

Look for Dumars to give this team a long over due overhaul over the next two seasons.

Yes, we might have won a couple of games with Billups. So what? It's still a first rd. exit. The Pistons would not have been the 8th seed with Billups either. That wouldn't have changed anything either, it would just have postponed their inevitable exit another round, and set back the rebuilding another season. I said this team needed to be rebuilt two seasons ago.

The problems started with three events. The first was the drafting of Darko, who has become the biggest flop in recent NBA history. The second, and more telling failure was Dumar's inability to find somebody to play center when Ben Wallace left. (I don't blame him for letting Ben leave, I wouldn't have paid him that money either. He hasn't been the same player since he left here.) Having no center caused us to play 'Sheed out of position, and start McDyess, instead of having come off the bench. That's where Darko's failure hurt us the most. The third event was Larry Brown getting all "Larry Brown" on us. If he had stayed and kept his wanderlust out of the picture, this team may have won another 2 championships.

Let the rebuilding begin. We'll be back.

Hmmm.....I wonder if Sandra would have agreed to this? LMAO!
Funny thing is, if I would have said this...I would have been considered CRAZY...some here even mentioned that I owe her an apology if she ever came back....LMAO x2! Like Paul said, WITH Billups, they MIGHT have been a 7th seed, but more than likely were out. NOW, the issue with the Pistons is, next year....they have NOTHING that teams want. That is not saying they do not have decent players....but WHO is gonna take some of these contracts?

Which contracts? Wallace and AI are free agents, as well as McDyess and Walter Hermann. Kwame Brown has a players option for $4M next season, (who's going to offer him anything more, so he'll probably return.) The only trade-able marquee players are Hamilton and Prince, who are not signed to unreasonable contracts, anyhow I don't see wither of them going anywhere. That leaves the bench - Maxiell, Amir Johnson, Bynum, Afflalo. Of that group, any of them may be packaged in a trade, their contracts are all small.

We really would have been better off missing the playoffs and getting into the lottery, then just being sacrificial lambs for the Cavaliers. Dumar's does have a lot of cap space and roster flexibility to work with. Now we'll see if he can build a second winner. Once is hard, twice is really hard.
