2009 MLB Playoffs

Looks like this American Chronicle is wrong. Sort of sad when a paper does a whole article on a story and yet the main premise of that story ends up being false. Sort of puts a nail in their credibility coffin..

I am just sick and tired of the local-yocal homers from Podunk always blabbering about how we are all latte' drinking, surfing, casual fans. And they LOVE to point to the empty seats and say we don't show up.

Thank you for clarifying that error earlier posted here, DK!

Yet there are 6,000 seats still available for tonight's first game in New York! I'm really enjoying how the entire media has basically handed this to the Yanks....just like they handed the ALDS to the Sox. Just like they do every year.....

Live from L.A.: Tickets are gone

Several fans had to turn around after learning the NLCS Game 2 is a sellout.

There were a lot of U-turns back to Sunset Drive from Elysian Park when hopeful ticket seekers got to Dodger Stadium for Game 2 of the National League Championship Series with Philadelphia.
They all saw the "Game is sold out" clapboards near the entrance.
Of course, there were loiters with cardboard signs milling around with "I NEED TICKETS."
A Dodger Stadium security staffer advised one scalper to leave the property. Game 1 was an announced sellout of 56,000.
Come back later for more updates from Dodger Stadium.

Two different kinds of hate, I think. Not sure about 1986, but I think Yankee fans would rather the Red Sox win if they play the Mets in the World Series.

Yankee fans hate the Red Sox team, and the Met fan, if that makes any sense. It's just so different when you have to live alongside a fan year-round. Even if the Red Sox win we can pretty much ignore the celebration from down here. There are plenty of Red Sox fans in the area, but not like the millions of Met fans. And you have to hear about it on the radio all the time too.

This is how I feel about the Islanders, and it pretty much applies to Met/Yankee fans too.

If the Islanders were playing a team from Mars, and the fate of mankind depended on the outcome of the game...I say 'Lets Go Mars'. All I need is to hear stupid Islander fans harping 'haha we saved the planet'. Forget it, I'd rather be obliterated...

Very well said and quite true!! I rooted for the Sox in '86. And in 2000 Met fans went completely over the top with the smack talk about what they were going to do the Yanks (How'd that work out for ya?) There's an old saying "Act like ya been here before" that Met fans don't get! Just like fans in other cities who promptly riot when their teams win a championship. Show some class...it"s just a game!

It's also 35 degrees with a Nor'easter closing in!! Just saying!

It will probably look something like this:

Lineups for Game 1 of the American League championship series between the Angels and New York Yankees. It's a little chilly in Yankee Stadium, with temperatures in the 40's, but it hasn't rained all afternoon. If it stays dry, they should be able to get the game in.

Martin should have walked anyway. That 3-0 pitch was inside. It should be 1-0 with the bases loaded and 0 outs, instead of 1-1 with 1 on and 1 out.
Which then means that hit by Thome would make the game 2-1 with 2 on and 0 outs, instead of 1-1 with 2 on and 1 out.

They had to win this one.. uffffffffffff :up
I know. The Phils gave it to them with the error and BBs, just as the Dodgers gave the game to the Phils yesterday with all of the BBs.

BTW, If I were to ask with the match-ups of Kershaw and Hamels, and Padilla and Martinez which game would be 8-6 and which would be 2-1, what would most people answer?

Down to the last pitch...WHEW! Maybe not a thriller like the other playoff games, but such a well-pitched game!!!!!:up

Utley must be embarassed as hell!
But the pitchers also failed to get them out. Only one ball was hit hard the whole inning. That rally should have never happened to begin with.
