2008 Pennant Races

METS ARE ALIVE!!

Johan Santana tosses a complete game, three-hit shutout on three days rest. Mets win, 2-0.

I'll tell you what, both Santana and Sabathia have shown some stones this week, pitching on three days rest at a high level! :up

Cubs ahead of Brewers, 2-0 top of 2nd.

If Brewers lose, they'll be tied with the Mets going into the final day tomorrow.

Nobody's had much to say about Santana lately but he's put together a pretty good year all the same.

I agree. I've even seen his name sneak up in some Cy Young discussions.

Cubs 4, Brewers 0.......................Bottom of 3rd

Phillies 0, Nationals 0..................Bottom of 4th (Phillies win clinches the NL East)

Twins 2, Royals 0.......................Bottom of 3rd

He is a front runner for Cy Young; not because I am a Met's fan, but voters take into consideration he has been unbeaten now (I think) in 15 games; low ERA, etc. and that the Mets bullpen blew (I think) 8 games for him . . . imagine that; he could be a 25 game winner without a problem!

SUNDAY NIGHT BASEBALL TOMORROW!!!

Even if it is the Yanks and Sox...we get one more Sunday night baseball game tomorrow with today's rainout. Granted it's not ESPN but I'm sure it will be on EI.

They just postponed the Yankees-Red Sox game after an hour and a half delay.

They're actually going to play a day-night doubleheader tomorrow!! This is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard of. Making up a meaningless game on the last day of the season.........it smacks of gate receipts greed!

No one better get hurt for the Red Sox in this foolish makeup game tomorrow!

Tito should play his "C" team just to protect you guys before you fly out here!!!! I agree with you about it's insanity. But, I will take one more SN game.

Red Sox should send out the grounds crew to play; why risk tiredness, injury, etc. Bragging rights have already been won . . . Sox in playoffs, Yanks not . . . end of story!

Tito had a pretty much AAA lineup in there today anyway (Carter, Van Every, and Bailey was their starting outfield ), but it's hard to sit EVERYONE out even with the expanded rosters.

Good one :D. I like your thinking! :up

no its not; all those call ups on September 1 will love to play!
What I meant was, with Lowell and Drew hurt , they don't have enough backups to cover ALL nine positions.

I hear what you're saying though.

Thank you . . . god knows Mets bullpen has been stacked since September 1 and thank god for that . . . notice we are playing 8-10 pitches a night except when Santana's out there!

Look on the bright side, Bill.

At least you'll have something to do with the Patriots on their bye week!

Oh, and I'd like to welcome to you the 2,000 post club.

In retrospect, you'd have to think that if the Mets had a healthy Billy Wagner, they would have ran away and hid by now.

That's true, but between the other NFL action and the three pennant races going on, my plate would have been pretty full regardless.
