2008 MLB Playoffs

2000 vs. the Mets- San Francisco wins first game, Mets win the next three.

2003 vs. the Marlins- again SF wins the first game only to lose the next three.

The other time it happened was 1999, the Astros won game 1 vs. the Braves only to lose the next three.

What's really freaky is that the three teams that lost that first game made it to the World Series.

Me-Me and the Dodgers up next!

I have to give the devil his due, Me-Me has been a postseason BEAST (with the Indians and Red Sox).

Oh Dear God,
they just showed a priest thowing holy water in the Cubs dugout while he gave a blessing!

What, no goat or Bartman???

Viinnie working radio for those with MLB radio or XM. 10 second delay or so from DirecTV. Probably more if watching the TBS backhaul

Guys,

with a very shaky Mike Lowell (torn labrum in his hip) in the lineup tonight, look for for Figgins and Aybar to bunt early and often!

I wonder which team is going to take on the role of 'team most fans are rooting for to lose.'

Since the Yankees aren't in, someone's gotta wear the black hat.

Gotta be the Red Sox, I'd think. No only are they overexposured like the Yankees, but they also spend a ton of money and they've won 2 recent World Series including last year.

If the Cubs, the class of the National League, possibly lose the series to a so-so team from the mild N.L. West, this indeed DOES prove that

A. They truly are cursed

B. Me-Me may have sold his soul to Satan

The last thing I want are the Dodgers in the World Series. They are a one-man gang with subpar pitching.

As much as I don't like the Dodgers, I don't think their pitching is subpar at all.

Off to watch the Angels/Sox....best of luck, Bill.

I think it's going to be White Sox in 5, Phillies in 4, Cubs in 5 and Angels in 5. I think these series are going to be good with a lot of fun. I think the pitchers in these games (ex. Hamels) are really going to show there stuff.
Sorry, Bill, that Beckett injury or lack thereof worries me about the Sox. I think it's about time the Angels get over the hump and beat the Sox.
I picked the Phillies because, well, there better than the Brewers. How could I watch this series?
White Sox vs. Angels-ALCS- Angels in 6
Phillies vs. Cubs-NCLS-Cubs in 5
Cubs vs. Angels-World Series-(Sorry KCK) Cubs in 7.
I really think the Cubbies are going to win it. If they don't, they are CURSED. I just think with Cubs, it has to end eventually.

Just loved Scully's references tonight to the Cub fans being 'full of beans' early in the game
and then after Man-Ram homered he said 'that hissing sound you hear is the air coming out of Chicago's balloon'. :D

Who's the biggest NFL disappointment so far this season?

Best World Series of all-time?
