2008-09 College Bowl Season

Ole Miss has aquired quite a few talented players. You had to notice that if you watched the Cotton Bowl, even if you are an Okie. ;)
Oh, I didn't see the Cotton Bowl, but I agree there's talent at Ol' Miss. I'm just not sure that it was the talent acquired by Nutt that beat Florida in the swamp, and Texas Tech. All of his recruits are true freshmen this year. I don't see Ol' Miss competing with LSU for the SEC West long term.

I was very impressed with Mississippi. Texas Tech-Crabtree appeared injured throughout the game. Great win for OlMiss. Nationally, the Utes don't stand a chance. Schools west of the Mississippi, must beat number one to have a chance at #5.:D

The reason Ole Miss has so many talented players is because Orgeron was/is a damn good recruiter. He's now on Tennessee's staff as assistant head coach and defensive line coach.

True, Nutt didn't recruit the majority of his starters this year, but he did fire those rednecks up! Hope you're right about Ole Miss not competing for the SEC West in the long term. I'd hate to see LSU get another arse kicking like the Rebels gave them this year, and in Baton Rouge at that! :(

Seems that way, doesn't it?

A strong Ole Miss would be good for the SEC. LSU GA ole Miss BAMA FLA are all in the mix for next years national title, if GA and LSU improve to their normal status, and ole miss and bama continue to improve. It will be a bloody season next year in the SEC, if all the cards fall right, I doubt we will have an undefeated team from the SEC next year either. In fact we may have another 2 loss SEC champion...

That cajun can recruit, no doubt. I wish LSU would've brought him in on defense after this year's debacle. :)

Hate to interrupt this conversation, but I think that USC, in my mind, has OFFICIALLY surpassed Notre Dame as the most hated and annoying team in college football.

I like USC just fine. They've got a great coach and a super recruiting area. I don't mind excellence. I do mind mediocrity camouflaged as excellence, by the press.:D

That's how I feel. Now if USC starts losing 5-6 games a year, gets a national TV deal of their own and has former coaches with thpeech imepediments sing their praises all the time I may change my mind.

SEC = weaker schedules and OVER RATED (getting exposed) now FLA loses and it will be complete.
That's what you got from the bowl games so far? I thought just the opposite. Everyone pretty much agreed that the SEC was having a down year then a 6-6 Vandy team beats the ACC runner-up and Ole Miss takes out #7 Texas Tech from the Big XII South. Not to mention LSU embarrassing Georgia Tech. The only losses were by South Carolina to a hot Iowa team with the Doak Walker winner and Alabama to an undefeated Utah. Add in Kentucky beating the C-USA champs and Georgia beating Michigan State. I'm not sure how any of these games would suggest "getting exposed".

I was wondering the same thing...

On a side note, man OSU is looking good so far. Good luck buckeyes. I dont like Texas, and I dont like OSU so its hard for me to cheer any of them, but deep down I want OSU to win, so their is no question when FLA beats OK who is the national champion... (Aside from a derserving utes team)

Need to get the ball in the end zone when we get down there.
This could be a much different game had the punched it in when they were down there.
Beanie is having a very good game, the O line that I have often criticized is playing well on rush plays and maybe avg on pass plays, still not giving the QB time to throw, unless it's a quick throw.

Jimbo

Go Buckeyes!!!
They do need to punch it on in. And please please please T Pryor...can you stop let'n up on
your runs. Twice he missed an extra 5 - 10 yards. But other than that....GO Buckeyes!!

I agree, at least the second time he got the 1st down ....

I think they should leave Beockman in , they put him in for one play at atime and Texas knows he's going to throw on those downs, maybe they wil run a draw with Wells or a screen to throw them off that .

I have a feeling we will see the Texas offense in the second half that we saw in the last minute of the first.
We normally play terrible against spread offenses.

MacDawg, how come you don't post as often as some of us?

You're from Cleveland, are a Buckeyes fans- you have HD's credentials, yet you're not as frequent a poster as he is.

Time for College football playoffs?

Tebow coming back for more...
