No RSN's meant we weren't paying for more programming we don't watch.
And yet they're still going up to $83 a month. What a rip!

I blame the program providers that keep raising thier retransmission prices. They're losing money from the cable/sat services, and trying to make it up on the streaming side. And yet they're still going up to $83 a month. What a rip!

Just got an email notice from YoutubeTV. Price is increasing from $72.99 to $82.99 with first billing in January.
YouTube TV has always worked hard to offer you the content you love, delivered the way you want, with features that make it easy to enjoy the best of live TV.
To keep up with the rising cost of content and the investments we make in the quality of our service, we’re updating our monthly price from $72.99/month to $82.99/month starting January 13, 2025.
We don’t make these decisions lightly, and we realize this has an impact on our members. We are committed to bringing you features that are changing the way we watch live TV, like unlimited DVR storage and multiview*, and supporting YouTube TV’s breadth of content and vast on-demand library of movies and shows.
The price of your YouTube TV Base Plan membership will change in your first billing cycle on or after January 13, 2025, and will be charged to your payment method on file going forward. To view your current plan, go to Settings > Membership for updated information. If you are currently on a trial or promotional price for the Base Plan, that promotion is still honored and unchanged.
We hope YouTube TV continues to be your service of choice, but we understand that some of our members may want to cancel their subscriptions. As always, family managers have the ability to pause or cancel anytime. You can find more information in our Help Center.
With lots of exciting shows and live events ahead in the new year, we’ll continue to strive to deliver the best of TV, all in one place. Thank you for being a loyal YouTube TV member.
Sincerely,
The YouTube TV team
How does this end? I think there will come a point when people say "enough is enough," although I don't think we're there yet. Even some of the RSN's will live to die another day, although I was seriously hoping they would fail this year.
Philo is a good alternative and costs only about half as much.
The lack of locals is a deal killer for us.Philo is a good alternative and costs only about half as much.

Nope.Is there still a way to get locals only via satellite through Dish?
The equipment is very inexpensive compared to satellite, and I pay nothing extra for Internet since I need it anyway for other purposes. Actually, even the cost of our Firesticks isn't a factor since we originally bought them to use for Netflix and the Dish Anywhere service. We still have Netflix, but not Dish. It's cable without the cable. Keep packing in more and more channels then try to justify another price increase "To keep up with the rising cost of content and the investments we make in the quality of our service". Where have I heard that before? It's the same old same old only now you pay for the equipment and Internet access in addition to their service. Meanwhile I pay $139 per year for Prime for the free shipping and essentially get Prime TV for free plus another 72 channels off the antenna. There is nothing about YTTV that tempts me.
