Yankees Sign Teixeira

win or loss, it's money that has been spent . . . texeira's contract could probably buy, at least, 7 teams right now . . . that is ridiculous and usurps the balance in the world of baseball

Perhaps you should buy someone who can hit in September...;)

Sandra

naming rights and contracts are completely different . . . neither affect the game . . . i do not see boras pimping out banks for corporate sponsorships of stadiums either

So you don't like the Yankees' dealings with the city, but you think taking $20M per year from Citibank is fine?

Sandra

1. Yankees sh*&ed on the Bronx and their residents by taking away a park, as well as buying up land for a nickel and dime rather than help their neighborhood

2. Citibank paid for their naming rights; how does that ruin baseball?

I never mentioned anyone ruining baseball. That was you.

Citibank is being bailed out by taxpayers...across the nation, not just in New York. So everyone here and everyone who pays taxes is helping pay the Mets. Nice.

Sandra

Hey, Citibank made the deal before going under . . . fire their lawyers and bookkeepers for their oversight!

Oversight, huh? Nice spin.

No, the Mets should do the right thing and return the money. And don't call it Citi field either.

Sandra

I am actually wrong . . . no oversight . . . I just looked it up and apparently the Wilpons and Citi struck a deal about 5 years ago . . . who could have predicted what would happen years after that

ADDITIONALLY . . .as long as Citi pays their debts on time, there will be no probably with them losing business

Not a question of losing business. It's the fact that taxpayers across the country are funding Citibank's payment to the Mets. If it was the Yankees you would be all over that. Since it's the Mets, you're looking for a reason why it's OK. ;)

As a Mets fan, I have to agree with Sandra. I'm sorry CJWCT but I think Sandra's right. I do think, though, that the Yankees sometimes has this mentality of "We are Going to take Our Ball and Go Home". It's almost like the Yankees felt last year "Well we'll do what we have to do to make the playoffs next year". It's almost like they think they are entitled to everything and there not. That's why, I think, a lot of baseball hates the Yankees because they piss people off. I mean the whole Yankee Way of doing things, the respect, the power, the pinstripes ... I mean that's all fine and well but sometimes they tend to rub it in other people's way. You know, it's the Yankees way or no way and that's not the way to think.
I kind of bothers me with all the Yankee way stuff that they wanted or trying or whatever to sign Manny. This guy is the total opposite of everything Yankees. He conceded, arrogant and cares about himself only.
BUT...
Sandra is right believe or not based on the above rant. The Yankees had money to spend, they spent it legally. Their's nothing wrong with what they did. I don't think it's even an issue about it. I don't think there's an argument between Sandra and CWJCT. I just question the Yankees mentality about signing Tex, NOT that they couldn't sign him.
