Another advantage of Acronis is VMWare's ability to convert tib files into virtual machines when running physical to virtual.
I believe this will get much more popular in the desktop world over the coming years...

There are too many system files that will be open that even if you lock them while you make a copy, those copies happen at different points in time.

That can be important when backing up an AD Server box while active. Makes no difference on an idle desktop...

I use Acronis for all of my personal computer and server backups. It has been good. I haven't had an issue restoring anything.
