Android vs. Windows Phone: Which smartphone is simply faster?
Are they really bragging about how quickly you can post a picture to Facebook? Aren't you more likely to search for how to reach a Target by bus?

None of the Android phones seemed particularly state-of-the-art.

The people for whom this matters won't be cognizant that the devices used weren't best vs best. It's an age old trick, insure your product wins the test by any means necessary.

Lest we forget the WP8 camera demo was faked.

Which WP8? There's more than one manufacturer you know. That's like saying the Android camera demo was faked.

Really? It was the launch event and the premiere handset.

That it was so easily discovered made it worse.

Not the way to launch.

Honestly, the way these tests were done, it wouldnt have made much difference which handset was used. Its not the speed of the device so much that was tested, but the speed and ease of the way the OS is set up that made the difference. For what they were doing, WP8 is faster, and I can say that as factual based on my experience across numerous devices, flagship android sets (current) included.

brother-in-law updated his Lumina 920 yesterday. all went well. He is a extreme heavy user and says it is great (dumped his I5). Has gone through 2 handsets with problems freezing up requiring restart. He will know soon if update fixes the glitch. Says his sales staff are moving towards the Lumina 920 and the Samsung SIII.

Been following nokia. It looks like they have been ramping up the new phones slowly. Could have been quality or production concerns, could be unloading their old inventory or could be lack of cash and they hedged their bet in case the new ones were a flop.

Whatever, it's nice to see a great old company come out of rehab with what looks to be a sucess story (no matter what the koolaid drinkers say).

Yeah heard that some of the 920's were having some issues. The new Samsung Ativ S looks nice the hardware real similar to Samsung S3.

Specs look good, but I'm not a huge fan of AMOLED screens. I've only had my SGSII Skyrocket for just over a year, and the screen has burn in and has dimmed significantly. IPS screens really are a lot better.

Mark Cuban says the Nokia Lumia "crushes" the Apple iPhone 5

Smart choice.]
He needs to let everyone know when the WM8 apps library reaches some non-negligible percentage of the size of the iPhone library. For whatever reason, smart phones are much more about the smarts and less about the phones.

Cuban has no idea prob that w8 phones have 1% apps compared to iOS/Android and will never catch up in that dept.

I think W8 has most of the official Apps that IOS & Android have which is what most users use. Most of the Apps that are out there on IOS Android are 3rd party so you can always looks at the numbers which in many cases can be very misleading. So the reality is the most common or most used Apps will be on all 3 platforms and smart developers know this that the more platforms they have their apps on the more money it is for them.

What makes an "official" app vs an "unofficial" one? Sounds like you are peddling snake oil.

If the cost to develop exceeds the revenue generated, there is little point to releasing an app for a business. Right now, developing for the Windows App market is based on sheer faith as the volume of sales is low compared to either established platform.

Android activations exceed one million a day. iOS exceeds half a million a day (don't have accurate numbers beyond that). If a platform isn't activating more than that it is losing market share compared to these platforms.

Official App would be like Netfilx or Amazon 3rd party just something off the wall.

I'll be honest. There are some big name ones missing as well. Or what id call big name.

It is improving daily, but I'm still without my vulkano app, Pandora, and an app for my security system to name a few.

That said, it does hit the main ones for most. the OS itself is good enough to wait for those to come out for me. For now.
