While I was in the store, two people were being guided through the online ordering process and another couple stated they would wait until October deciding on their Christmas gift to each other. I thought that was a strange excuse for not buying now. But our sales rep with the try on, said Friday was a crazy day for ordering at the store, then Saturday it died off when the several weeks wait time was discovered. He said, they had the same experience with the iphone6. I told him Apple needs to do better market studies so they can better prepare inventory.

Thanks for that article on sales but all too often these guys are wrong by too wide a margin. I'll reserve opinion on the number after Apple releases the numbers in their earnings call later this month. I do wonder what method they use to come up with their sales data however. Anyone know?

I went to Apple Store in my area today.
Made appointment arrived 30 min early and got in with no problem. Not crowed at all. Going to the Apple Store to view Apple products always reminds me of going to Best Buy and looking at HDTVs. Kids working there are really polite and do their damnedest to give you a great experience....,,,but they will tell you misinformation in a heart beat. My rep told me two things wrong about the watch without me asking any questions so I just listened and was polite back. Enough about a little rant
I tried on the space gray 42 black sport band and black leather loop ss watch 42mm. I will say what others have said about the size. Way smaller in person. My wrist are 177mm btw. I can't believe I even considered the 38mm. Sport felt really good on my wrist. Very light. When you get a notification you really do feel a tap and not a vibration. Very cool. The rubber band seems very durable material to me. Tried the ss next with black leather loop and it is a little heavier than the sport. Enough to notice but not enough to be a bother. Really liked the
leather loop but will be using the sport band 95% of the time. I found myself adjusting my arm so that my eyes were comfortable without straining. Which means that Don has better eyes than me. I'll probably try adjusting font size within a week.
On to the software. As others have said you a watch paired with mini iPad. I never paid attention to the iPad. The crown does move lag free while swiping is similar to iphone and iPad which is a good thing. Very smooth.
I did see I could do most functions with swipe except for zoom.
Really happy about purchase of 42mm sport gray.

They did have the Edition on display but don't think you could try that one on at this store.

Got back to another store today and had a chance to put my Sony next to the 42mm.

Was just at the movies and when they did the silence your cellphone video I got to thinking how long until they want people to cover their watches....

The advantages to waiting and see what other watches have done: Even though the Sony smartwatch has more screen real estate, it looks like a fair portion is used up with the Sony branding and the Android Home/Return/Menu soft buttons, making the analog watch face shrink down to half the size of the analog face of the ?Watch.

I'm looking forward to iFixit's tear-down of an ?Watch after next Friday's launch.

The small watch face is my design, so I could squeeze the weather, temperature email, phone calls, battery date and day info / buttons on the main face. The back, home, and delete buttons at the bottom are on the bezel as is the Sony at the top. There are 5 pages of 6 apps buttons each you get to by pushing the side button and then the home button. Then swipe to get to each page. What is obviously better on the Apple is the resolution, color and brightness of the screen. The Apple has 2 mm less width but 2mm more height for reading the full text of e-mails.

I think Siri will be used a good bit at the beginning to navigate through the watch. Native Apple apps are my only interest except for maybe Pandora. I wonder how easy it will be able to read in the bright sunshine.
There were overhead lights reflecting off the mini iPad but don't remember any reflecting off of the watch.

Got to play with one at the Apple Store on Michigan Avenue today. I remain unpersuaded. For $400 it s a lot of dough for such a small screen. I then walked to a garmin store and played with exercise watches for half the price. Meh...

Yes, it does reflect lights. I had some trouble taking a picture and frame it so a spot overhead didn't show up in the screen center. But same is true for my Sony.

What remains to be seen is how well it displays in bright sunlight. my Sony is Ok but the colors don't show up. However, if I'm wearing polarized sun glasses the screen is blacked out. (Sony). That's another test I'll need to do after it arrives. Wife is supposed to get hers on the 24th.

The bright light question was one we asked, and the "genius" shrugged saying he didn't know and hadn't been able to take one out of the store. :)

Polarized sun glasses will probably black out the screen at certain angles. Have you tried rotating the Sony to see if you can see it from certain orientations?

Yes, at about 5-10 degrees it begins to S&W up, very dim.

Funny story, when I first discovered this, I thought the watch battery was dead. I would plug in the charger and a couple times thought the charger wasn't plugged in. Eventually, I figured it out, it was the polarized sun glasses.

Interesting. It must be the type of LCD as the GPS screen in both of my cars is fine with polarized glasses on.

Anyway, I got an email from Apple with an updated delivery on my wife's watch- Now it says April 24th - May 8 delivery. It first claimed I would have it on 4/24. I haven't told my wife the bad news yet.

They really under estimated the sales volume on this.
