Ok, bottom line.... with all of the legal ranglings and deals and so forth....

If I have a SERVICE ADDRESS in NY, NY, but my billing address is at "my parents house" somewhere else in the country, will I be able to get remote networks? Like I would be able to with D*?

Will Dish make me jump through some kind of hoop, or can I just say, yes I live in NY, please let me pay for distant networks. Thank you.

Oh, and I don't have a phone to connect to the receiver either.... :tux:

IF you live in New York you will get regular New York locals. Your billing address has nothing to do with what locals you get , only your service address.

So then why is everyone freaked out about losing remote networks? Can't they just "move" to NY and get all the locals which would be their previous remotes???

Confused by what isn't being said here. Within Manhatten, you will get NY locals, if you use a NY addres and are out of the spotbeam, you will get about six of the NY local and will not get the other eleven. If you are asking if living in NY you will receive distant locals - that is a loaded question, you may think you should and the FCC may disagree.
