I currently have a Sirius Audiovox PNP3 receiver and car kit (including antenna). I am considering purchasing XM (either in addition to Sirius or to replace Sirius). If I get the MyFi, will the PNP3 antenna work with it? Is there any compatibility between XM and Sirius antennas, or are they programmed uniquely to pick up totally different signals?

Thanks.

I have heard that some people have gotten sirius antennas to work with xm and vice versa, but with limited success and usually the reception isnt the best.

I am in prudhoe bay alaska working. I have the xm2go with me and can get a signal if i turn the antenna toward the horizon.
I was reading where the sirius marine antenna has a lot more gain. Does anyone know if this will connect to xm???

Early antennas:

XM antennas have a elevation towards the sky of 20 to 70 degrees above horizon
XM antennas are blind above 70 degrees.

Sirius antennas have a elevation of 20 to 90 degrees above horizion.

Some newer antennae are supposed to work on either XM or Sirius. The first step in compatablity that has been completed.

The electronics are supposedly tuned to the specific frequency of each service.

With that said I am using a XM sky-fi home antenna sitting on my dash with a Sirius Audiovox PNP.

It works pretty well.
