Wii u

Someone brought a couple Wii remotes. He had 4 of them and the gamepad. He doesn't have any pro controllers or the GameCube controller setup. It was pretty weird playing with the remote and nunchuck combo but everyone except for the person with the gamepad was in the same situation. For the most part it was just drunken button mashing anyways.

Don't expect to see many more Let's Play videos or the like from YouTubers of Nintendo Games. Apparently Nintendo doesn't quite grasp that video coverage of their games is GOOD because it's basically free advertising, and instead is trying to monetize as much as humanly possible from the hard work of these people.

Angry Joe found out the hard way about Nintendo's current system..

Then Nintendo set up a "revenue sharing" system for their videos, where they can get up to 40% of your ad revenue for the videos. Total Biscuit has described why this is a horrible system for YouTubers and why it's likely most will just not join it and avoid Nintendo games.

And finally, PewDiePie, one of (if not the) most popular Youtuber for games has declared that Nintendo games are now on his sh*t list and said "F*ck you Nintendo" (this comment was later edited out but I know for a fact I saw it earlier today.)

It's sad how out of touch Nintendo is when compared to other game companies and just how goddamn slow they are to adjust to new trends. And they had just been riding a great wave of momentum with gamers by having a very successful 2014 with MK8, SSBU, Hyrule Warriors, and Bayonetta 2. Even with their great year, Nintendo is still a distant 3rd in the console wars and the 3DS isn't turning any heads (unless it's them announcing that they're not including AC Adapters anymore because of course that's a good idea.) Trying to nickle and dime people who's business it is to talk about games doesn't seem like the best way to endear yourselves to your potential audience.

So remember that awful revenue sharing program Nintendo introduced to YouTubers? If not, this video sums it up pretty well:

Well Nintendo today clarified the program. So not only are you still bound by Nintendo's stupid revenue sharing rule, but also you can't have ANY videos on your channel that aren't Nintendo games. So basically you have to dedicate your entire channel to Nintendo games, Nintendo games of which that are just those on their allowed list, and if you have any other type of games on it, you're disqualified from the program.

The arrogance of Nintendo is honestly reaching EA levels of 2 years ago...

Since Club Nintendo is closing in a few months I logged in to see how many coins I had and what I could purchase with them. I only had 265 and I don't have a Wii U so my choices were limited. I ended up getting the original Legend of Zelda for 200 coins for my 3DS XL. It's a classic that I've never played before and I like A Link Between Worlds so it seemed like a good choice. Now I just need to remember to charge my 3DS and use the code since Nintendo doesn't tie games to your account like every other modern system.

Time will tell, although we did get an early screenshot from one of the games here.

Jim Sterling made a video about how absolutely absurd the Amiibo situation has become, with Nintendo not making nearly enough, scalpers getting rich, and the problem with it now leading to ultra exclusive DLC. (NSFW)

Speaking of Splatoon, it has received numerous good reviews, although some have mentioned that you really need to get into multiplayer to really enjoy it. I liked this comparison:

Well, Nintendo has now COMPLETELY sold me on SUPER Mario Maker. The fact that I can share my own levels, play other levels, as well as make my own for my children to get them into gaming is something I've been waiting for since LBP.

In case you didn't know, Project Cars was supposed to come to the Wii U. Well the developer announced that that wasn't going to happen, even though their fundraiser reached the funds to where that WOULD happen. The head of the studio seems less than sympathetic towards Nintendo owners that actually wanted this game to happen..
