Why haven't you ordered Voom?

I'm waiting on Voom because:

1. Voom may go under/sell-out:

2. From what I've read, much repetition and uninteresting programming in HD. SD line-up falls short of cable.

3. No reduced price for self-install option.

4. Much Playboy hype, but its not a fulltime channel. I don't do PPV.

Anyone else?

Personally, I don't want the Playboy channel, and would block it out.

What I do want is the 921!!!! Otherwise, I might consider Voom!

My reason, Voom doesn't have nearly as many and not enough SD channels as DirecTV or Dish Network and doesn't even come close to what my local cable provider (TW cable) has. They have absoluty NO local channels by satellite, which is a BIG problem for people like me who live in poor OTA reception area's. The asking price for the equitment is way too high with no rebates availible (that I know of) with only one receiver currently made, and no DVR. (but, yes I know one is to come) Only ONE store sells VOOM, besides Voom itself, so there is no way to price shop for new receivers. And lastly, I do think Voom will be sold, because I do not think Cablevision can help support them til they start making lots of money with tons of new subscribers, which are hard to get with almost no adds for the service.

I respect your opinion, but for me, I don't want to see 500 channels. The more content available, the more the quality suffers. Voom has enough channels for me. They carry what I primarily watch. For me, Voom viability will come down to how well the system works each time you turn it on. I'm still waiting for a new receiver, which will apparently arrive Friday. For me, there are too many flaws with the receiver. The guide pops up randomly; the program information constantly needs updating, etc. If they fix these issues so that my wife will be happy with it, I'll keep Voom. $40 per month for good HD and SD channels and one movie channel like HBO or Starz seems like a good deal to me.

1. Hardware Too expensive. The price is not even their DVR unit. If it was that price for the HD DVR perhaps more would get their service.

2. No self-install option. You have to pay for the install and wait for them to come out with a possible no show

3. Paperweight. Who wants to pay that much for something that may be no good in a year or two?

4. Not enough SD channels. They do not have as many channels as DirecTv/Dish/Cable. A lot of channels people would rather have SD than some of those HD channels.

5. Not enough good HD content. Some say there are a lot of repeats or that some of the channels are not worth watching.

6. No DVR option yet.

I am surprised so many people care about porn HD. I hate porn personally and hope they don't advertise it as a selling point. I am sure they will let me completely block it out.

1) Fear of a hideously ugly install (never had satellite before)

2) I want PVR

3) I want Cartoon Channel/Boomerang

Self Install feature would be great so I could hire someone with a brain to do it (most installers are like most pool guys in many ways IMO)
