Why Cord Cutters Are Favoring Cheaper Online Options Over Cable-Like Bundles

What channels MUST your wife have? We are OTA antenna only with a Tivo Roamio, and have Netflix which my son pays for, but we don't use it all that much.

Locals, Comedy Central, and TBS. But, it isn't just about the channels, it is about "appointment television." Certain shows need to be watched live or only delayed by enough to allow us to skip commercials. If those shows were available to stream right when they start, without commercials, like Game Of Thrones is on Amazon Prime HBO Channel, she would probably be ok with that.

Clearly sports isn't the only time-critical programming that gets discussed the next day at the water cooler.

Part of what this represents is a windfall for sports-oriented food and beverage establishments but there's a question as to whether this is financially sustainable for the viewers. Watching the playoffs represents a much larger cost if you have to drive somewhere, buy relatively expensive bar food and drink and finally drive back home. Cheaper than $100 per person tickets yes, but still awfully expensive.

Google and Amazon end their ridiculous streaming video spat

Cut a cord, sorta
