why are my local ota hd channels fuzzy?

I was watching the eagles steelers game tonight "ota" from my local nbc and have noticed when there is a quick pan across the field the background will be pixilated and or fuzzy. It looks perect when there is no quick pans, I have also noticed this on cbs. I have 3 ways to get the signal 1. ota thru 622 2. ota thru digital tuner on my sony and 3. my cable feed thru the digital tuner, all have the same issue so I was wondering if this is a nbc and cbs broadcast issue or is it a local broadcast issue and why? It doesn't matter what signal strenght, I get between 60 and 100 depending on weather, I am about 120 miles from the towers but it still does this on my cable feed. I also had this issue when I had a SA 8300 box from my cable co. I have this problem on all my hd tv's. Any ideas? thanks

If the picture was okay with your cable feed, I'd blame your antenna, cabling, etc. But since you also have the problem with the cable co's feed, which they likely pick up with a proper OTA setup or even via fiber or microwave, it would seem pretty apparent that the issue is the station itself.

Go to AVS Forum, this forum, Local HDTV Info and Reception - AVS Forum, and find your area. Odds are others are having the same issue.

My Pioneer plasma does that when I have HDMI cable run b/t dish receiver and tv, but when I use component cables, it clears up. So I don't know if that's your situation, but I really like the picture I get with component cables much better than HDMI. Now I also have other tv's (LCD) that seem to like the HDMI cable better.

It is because of the nature of HDTV itself. 1080i especially does not handle motion, specifically whole screen motion very well. 720p is a little better with whole screen motion. If every pixel on a 1920X1080 picture is changing 30 times per second even a full bandwidth OTA ATSC signal cannot handle that and macro blocking will occur.
