On more than one occasion I saw Charlie give Jim the evil eye after saying something Charlie wasn't thrilled about being broadcast.
Didn't Charlie himself say something about handing over your paychecks? Or pocketbook? Or wallet?

That's because, until recently, there wasn't any real choice. You had a handful of large bundles to choose from no matter which provider you chose, or nothing at all. Now with the advent of OTT and skinnier bundles, more choice will lead to more control by the consumers. I for one am glad I cut my TV bill in half with the Flex Pack and stopped feeding the biggest pigs.
Who is to blame? We, the consumer... For complaining, but yet, continuing to pay.
The only thing that can lower price is for either MORE competition (which is not going to happen as more and more companies merge) ..or.. people begin to cut the cable for another alternative like streaming services (which they have been doing and companies respond, like Dish's Flex pack).. But enjoy the 'lower' prices of streaming while you can because those prices will increase and you'll be right back where you are now.

Yeah. He did it.No, but he made it possible to take a bigger chunk of it with the price hikes.
It's amazing this concept is foreign to the pay-tv industry.Only pay for what you use , when you use it. I love it.![]()

I was responding to the implication that Charlie himself was responsible for the price hikes.Huh. The new search engine is pretty good. I found it and posted it before several timesalong with Bob Haller and this guy: http://www.satelliteguys.us/xen/posts/2306246/ It was apparently "send us your paychecks..."
If Dish came out with some sort of customer loyalty program where the longer you stay with them the more discounts you get off your bill, automatic option to upgrade for no cost to the next Hopper if desired. This way they wouldn't have people switching so much. If they won't eliminate the monthly receiver costs , whole home dvr fee etc.... this could be one option to retain customers.

That is the preferred business model for any company. It is much less expensive than giving discounts to everyone.Basically most people won't complain, so they just take care of the ones who threaten to leave

Yes, but how much is too much? And the price still wouldn't come down more than giving out discounts to every long-term customer that would have stayed anyway. Then when those companies experience too much churn, price comes down..

I think it's only good for 3 months though. THEN look at what the cost is.I saw that DirecTV Now is selling their top package at a loss for $35/month for new customers.... over 100 channels. that's not a deal that comes around very often... might be worth checking out for people looking for a deal... i know this is the Dish forum but this deal blows Sling's offer out of the water!
