AMC9 at 83 west skew?

I'm using an old primestar dish trying to get AMC9. I'm using Satellite Finder and for my location it says the skew is 5.1. My question is, would the be like setting the lnb to 1-2 oclock? When I used to get g10 I skewed the lnb to 10 oclock to get it in and sat finder called for a skew of 40.8. Any help will be great.
Thank you

AMC 9 is a little to the west of your location in WV.

So 5.1 degrees would be like 11:50 on a clock (as viewed from the LNB facing the inside of the dish).

Each clock hour is 30 degrees.

LNB Freq

I'm using a Captiveworks 600p. Should I set my LNB Freq. to 9750/10750 or some other freq to get AMC9? Thank you

what type of LNB do you have? Are there any numbers on it?
I just know its an old primestar lnb. It has the letters L and V on the bottom. I was able to get amc9 a few nights ago but it wasnt on a good support. I went and got a new pole and mounted the dish and now cannot get it back. The pole is plum.
Thank you

which dish??

I'm trying to use the oval primestar but I also have a round 32" Fortec Star dish with a Invacom quad polar legacy lnb. Which dish would be better for trying to get AMC9? I would be willing to remove the motor if that would make things easier. I'm also thinking of buying a tripod so I could mount the dish on my porch.
thank you

First off I'm only interested in KU sats. Mostly RTN channels. I see AMC9 has 2 RTN's. I already have a 31" dish with motor. My question is, What dish would best suit my needs? Is the 31 enough or should I go bigger?(no jokes please) Are the bigger dish's easier to set up? I currently have a Captiveworks 600p. What would be the best or better receiver for true FTA? I notice with the CW there are missing transponders on some sat setups. I want the receiver that has up to date everything. Any advise would be great. Thank you

As Lak7 said, you'll never find a receiver with up-to-date info, since that info changes so often (especially in recent months, it seems). It would really help to have a receiver with blind scan (I don't think the CW-600 has that feature, someone correct me if I'm wrong). Blind scan will find any transponders on a given satellite for you, regardless of which ones are programmed into the receiver.

On the dish issue, if you are having issues with RTN reception (it is a somewhat weaker transponder), I would definitely go with the Primestar dish for best reception, especially if the Primestar dish is an 84E mold (see the back of the dish, the specs are stamped into it).

I've read reviews about the Captiveworks 600p and 'blind scan' is reported to work OK. So you could blind scan to find the missing transponders.

Or you could look at a database like lyngsat.com or tracksat.com and manually program the TP info into your receiver. Then you could do a 'channel scan' on the transponders that you entered.

What I would love to find is a receiver that can blind scan continuously for hours at a time. Then it would be able to find temporary feeds which come and go.
